overscan question

I just got a 100B and used it for the first time this past week. I know that the viewfinder and LCD show full image. Hadn't really thought about it when I was framing shots. Should I have been framing looser to compensate? The shoot was for broadcast.

You just need to use it a bit to get a feel for framing shots. I find it's nice since my tendancy is to shoot wider than I should be. The underscan actually helps me stay tight.

Yes, Slightly.

I'd redcomend the use of safe markers on your LCD to help with framing.

Can you help me figure out how to set this. When I hit the zebra button and bring up the marker it shows two very small squares in the center of the frame.... is there a way to adjust this to tv safe area?

No, that doesn't have anything to do with overscan. That's about exposure.

Mikko is probably referring to taping your LCD or using an overlay like Screenskins.

So I know this is going to be a stupid question for many but what is the advantage of having the full image since it will not be likely to appear anyway?

Seeing the whole image lets you see everything being recorded so that there are no surprises when you go to edit.

Every television has a different overscan. Things which may be cut off on one screen may not be on another.

Also, viewing the footage on a computer screen, you're going to see the whole image (no overscan). This is true of any web format, and also if you watch a DVD on your computer.

Edit:........nevermind.......
David answered it.

Note: might have to adjust your screen resolution higher to see everything on that website.
btw-Clay is a good guy. He'll get your overlays out fast.

My main concern is that I want my stuff to look good to the editor, the producer and for it to match with the other cameras (100As). When I was shooting the interviews the producer, when looking at my lcd, kept telling me he wanted less headroom and since I had spaced about the overscan/100B issue and I am hoping that everything I shot is not screwed up because of this combination....
