Seriously, the overheating on the 550D is really, really annoying. Seems like every other shoot it overheats and I have to stop a shoot. Can't wait to get the C100 and shelf the 550 for my B Cam. /rant off

Get a battery grip on amazon.

It helps a ton.

Also get some spare batteries, they're what gets so hot.

If you get the overheat message, switch the battery for a new, non hot one.

It's definitely a shitty issue, but there are a lot of work arounds.

The batteries/grip are both sooooo cheap. Just get them

Best "cure" is to upgrade to the T3i, T4i, 60D, or T5i.

The T3i would be your lowest cost option. The fully articulating LCD being separated from the body some seems to have "cured" the overheating issue. I had the T3i and 60D and never saw any overheating on those, nor did I see any complaints of such on the various forums.

The upgrade is going to be to the C100, probably in a week or two. Going home to get the HMC40 together to list for sale. I can deal with the overheating on occasion on the 550D as long as I know it's a B Cam.

That's right I had a 550D when they first came out and overheated all the time. My 60D never overheated once and my new 600D b cam is also cool.
