John and Tony, could you share your thoughts on the build-quality and ease-of-use of the Digital Juice 8x8 frame? It's tempting as an all-in-one kit, but a lot of the Digital Juice gear I've seen looks pretty cheaply made. So I'm wondering whether (for a little more) an Avenger 8x8 frame would be a smarter investment?
It dependes on what your needs are. If you are a hard core, day in, day out kinda guy, It may not last up to INTENSE rigors. It's basically like a fast fold projection screen frame. I saw that because of my old AV production days. It's not a heavy duty steel rig. But, that also means its super light and transportable. If you get their whole kit, it's super compact. The C-Stand frames could have been better made. The metal they use is sorta a cheep powder coated aluminum. Plus, the stand adaptors dont come with a case, so it's sorta the odd piece out that you can sorta forget at times unless you put it with your regular gear. I'm still hunting for a storage/transportation solution for that.
Cheers
Cool, Jon, I'm looking forward to your review... at around $400, it's tempting... does the seam show up if you lit it from the other side? Also, could you test how much light is lost?
I would love to do a video review. There are very few DJ Gear reviews on the web. I get a little sheepish because I don't have any one to help out run camera while i'm in front of the camera. I don't have the budget, location to do an all out review like some of the ones I see online. I also need to acquire a light meeter to measure the light as well.
I have the Digital Juice 8' Butterfly silk. It's a synthetic material with a seam down the middle, (which I didn't know until after I ordered it.) I haven't seriously tested it outdoors. I want to make a video review of it soon.
