These opinions below are strictly my own subjective thoughts:
Best Title: "October November Dismember"
Most dissociated monsters to story: "The Things I See" to where all of the action with monsters is away from main character & "The Lochness Monster" where there is no revealment of monster but a vehicle which is not the same.
Fluid dialogue to a point: "Aranaea's Revenge" the first half in which the two kids interact.
Most emphatic monster story: "All In the Family" as the monster's motive was to procreate and save lineage which is universally accepted and "The Monster of Evergreen Lane" where you believe the human is the monster and not the creature itself.
Most misunderstood story: "Johnny Angel" - definition of monster is a creature not of the norm in its own ecosystem. This entire short is set in Heaven (Paradise-like setting) so therefore the story is set on a Spiritual ecosystem. A human ecosystem reveres Angels, so that's where everyone got tripped up, they couldn't step outside the human ecosystem box.
Story that screamed interaction: "The Monster of Evergreen Lane." This is a one-person dialogue story which would be no different than a voice over or a short with no dialogue.
All you need is one phrase from the monster (even E.T. learned how to talk), something like, "Don't Die Me" where Jake would stop for a moment and there's that moment of hope for the teenage creature, that moment of dialogue exchange.
To have a single character do all the dialogue does not allow for interaction. I also believe it would work better as a bone-crackling story than a slasher flick. Which is worst, the pain about to come or being in pain the whole time?
Most use of monsters: "All In The Family" by using them as both a sympathetic opponent and dynamic characters. I do believe it can be better thought out to make for a killer story.
So what's my overall take?
Some went generic, one adapted, some went creative, some were clunky, one out of the box (sigh) - in other words, we all had our rises and falls. We met the deadline, we threw our scripts out there to be thrashed and we survived.
I say hooray for those who entered.
