Hey,

This is my first serious project with the DVX. It's a 40-45 minute comedy (starting small, huh!) with 15 actors and a budget of $100 mainly going for food to feed them. Right now we are two weeks into production with a couple more to follow after Christmas. Here is a little trailer and a few grabs I slapped together. If you have a minute, tell me what you think please!

Large (10 meg)

Small (3 meg)

yah, the boom distracted me from him even saying 10 o'clock...lol

you also spelled "comming this winter" wrong...it's 'coming'

Let me be the first to compliment you on your work, most people never turn out a project that looks this good as their first "serious" piece with the DVX. One of the characters over acted a little bit, but other than that, I thought it looked very interesting and funny. The trailer I think should display a little more of the film though. Cant wait to see the finished version. Keep up the good work and good luck with the rest of the shoot.

It's got potential, for sure... but after watching the trailer, I think I should have a hint as to what the movie is about. Good luck on your project.

Thanks guys.

I noticed the boom mic too when capturing the footage. I asked a couple people in my house if they could see it and they didn't notice it until I pointed it out. Obviously you are all a little more in tune with this so it doesn't surprise me. It will be fixed.

Also, regarding CC, I think the grabs turned out a little flat compared to the video but I wanted a low contrast/pastel look to the movie. So, not that I won't think about things, but I am pretty set on the way the movie is looking.

I know that the trailer doesn't reveal much about the movie. B/c we are not finished with production yet, there are a few lines that would open up the story but they haven't been shot yet. Once they are, I will post a revised version. Also, is anyone else having trouble playing it? Works fine for me on several computers.

Thanks!

Worked fine on my Mac with Windows Media Player.

Looks really good. Congrats. Nice dolly for the opening shot.

Seems like an "Office Space" type of film. Fun stuff. My only complaint (and it's a little one) is with the acting. Seems a bit overdone. Should be more natural, and the dialogue lines should overlap. Watch any Aaron Sorkin TV show (West Wing, Sports Night) and pay attention to how fast-paced the dialogue runs. A lot of it can be accomplished with editing if you have only one actor in the shot, but it's impossible if two are visible at the same time. Avoiding the brief gap between two actor's lines can improve the "natural" feel immensely.

Most folks won't even realize the boom is in there. Don't sweat it too much, but keep an eye out for it from now on. I'm diggin' the cinemascope! Good work, and good luck with the rest of the shoot!

I thought it was pretty good, looks like you got some commited actors there. I myself didn't notice the boom mike in the "ten o'clock" scene until I read it from the users above, I guess it being dark is in your favor. Looking good, have you finished it yet?

Some of it looked really nice, but there was alot of white and bland lighting which is visually boring to me. The cameo by the boom mic is pretty bad and the actor looks directly into the cam at :53 seconds. It definately looks like it has potential though, I'd like to see it in a few months after some cc is done.

I liked the way it looked shot wise and color wise in the office, but I really did not like the acting.

But that's the world of no budget production for ya-good actors are hard to find.
