This is my first time entering a Fest on the site as well as being my first, officially, completed film.

Shot it on a DVX, it stars some friends of mine and we had a budget of maybe $40 in all. I'll see if I can get some stills up later today.

Here's those stills you wanted Josh, sorry they're a little late:

Well apparently Josh owes John five dollars because it is on my monitor right now waiting to be watched. Which I will do...now.

Rolling and reviewing.

Projector noise is jarring a little. And then we hit the Jaws sounding music. One thing right off the bat. Camera seemed to be a little shaky. Maybe look at stabilization a bit more next time. I know you can do it. Because some shots were stable. Just the beginning was really shakey.

And the sound design was well done. Though the cut might have looked better with something other than a saw. Since it was easy to tell you used a prosthetic. But it was a nice play from the SAW franchise. Actually, at 3:10, it became the saw franchise. You did play on the time concept well. I liked the heart being the squishy pillow thing. And at 3:59. Clean your glass! Make sure to check that lens before shooting. The dust really took away from it. The air canon was a nice touch. But I think someone was laughing in the final shot.

Overall, good film. Interesting story. I would have liked to see him fight for life a bit more.

The first couple of shots at the cemetery were excellent. The makeup affects were a little too cheesy. Ouch duct tape on the skin isn't pleasant. Well you may have been going for that but it wasn't campy enough. I think you could've pulled it off if you upped the campiness factor.

This was a great first film....I'm still laughing (and I mean that in a good way). I'm sure people will find a bunch of things wrong with it, but I feel it adds to the nuance of this one. Yes, there are some shaky scenes and dust on the lens and laughing in the closing scene...but it's not everyday you see a man with a Va Jay Jay on his chest...and we all know duct tape fixes everything.

This was a great effort all around and I'm looking forward to seeing more from this filmmaker!

cool blood spray scene reminded me of 'machine girl' japanese style action. Cool 'heart' effect too. I would have liked if the main character was fighting to be somewhere so that after he had the bomb implanted in him that he wasn't just standing there waiting to die. Give him something to fight for in those last remaining seconds. Maybe tell his girlfriend that he loves her or save a someone from dying.

Yeah, I wasn't to sure on how much time the movie was gonna take as a whole so I had to cut a lot of ideas when the deadline got a little close, but I would have loved to do a lot more with this than I had, maybe give him some way to try and difuse the bomb would have been cool too.

I am impressed at the scope of what you aimed at achieving for this. While the effects were not the best, they were not horrible either. I think it is a great effort and a success in itself for being in the fest. I also think some of the shots looked good.

Duct tape has so many uses!

Nice idea and pretty good effort. Keep at it! You'll get better and better each fest.
The lighting was also pretty good in this.

Cheers,

Mike

Cool opening. I really liked the focus pull in the kitchen.

I wasn’t so jazzed about some of the handheld work. I thought maybe you could use a bit more blood in your next film (haha).

Thanks for showing.

Ambitious effects work. If you're this good at effects now, I can't wait to see what you're doing a few years from now.

There are problems, many of which have already been pointed out. Some other things I noticed was that I had a hard time understanding that first line. Pump up the volume, and that'll help.

Another thing is that him being really angry about the bomb in his chest gets old. Maybe we see some real regret and sadness in his eyes, after the initial anger. Then maybe he gives up trying to think of a way out of it. Then he decides, no, wait, I want to live! Frantically with the tools still left in his house, he starts cutting at his chest, trying to open it up... I'm just riffing here, but you can see how much more you could have done with the ending.

This was fun and I liked the death scene with the blood squirting and the yelling and the whatnot.

The incision on his chest looked like a really gross vagina, which threw me for a loop.

What did you make that heart out of?

Oh yeah, CLEAN YOUR LENS.

I hadn't even thought about him physically cutting himself open that actually sounds wicked badass.
