- It's been so long! Brand new vid, "spirit animals".

While it might not seem any more than the average "always shooting, always editing footage of your friends" affair, what I present is not only a perfect exercise in putting material out, it's the perfect look into the life we miss.

. . . Whew! That was a long sentence. I'm going to keep this thread updated as these keep popping out.

Presenting: Our Weekends Are better Than Yours

!UPDATE: 9/13/11 (New Video!)

"Spirit Animals"

"The War of Northern Aggression"

"Merry Go Round"
- A mixture of sparklers, subways, sun rises, swing sets and 32 waking hours.

"San Diego"
- The weekend that started it all: San Diego. Car broke down, no way to get home, stuck for two days stranded and yet, we made the best of it.

I certainly get a warm and happy feeling every time I watch them, which only fuels me to make more. I was really hoping others would catch on to the feeling, regardless if they know the people in them or not. Thanks for the words, Rainer. It means a lot.

I'm sorry, but with 'my weekend is better than yours theme', and there are no naked young women to drive the point home... I think this just demonstrates that massive failure of youth to actually be Youth...

As for taking up residence in the Lafeyette Hotel... I worked there when the Immigration Service had their offices there... in the olden days... days that when one would go to certain 'youth events' like 'love-ins' you would see naked young women... occasionally... until the police arrived... and that's not some stupid punk band group...

Why does god waste youth on the young...

Joke post? We went there because we needed a place to stay after the alternator in the car broke.

And I'm not too sure naked women work too well on youtube.

I only watched the one about Sand Diego, this kind of shows why Facebook is so popular, I'm sure (hope) you had a good time but who cares?

The newest one (merry go round), shows some actual content with shooting in mind. It showcases some actual art and makes San Diego look more lackluster in comparison.

Fidelis, a suggestion in case some posts leave you a bit discouraged: don't be. There's more than a hint of envy in Clarky's post. Whether by accident or design you've managed to capture your own artistic and poetic vision - you don't have to be defensive. Somewhere else on this forum (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...-Trip-Spot-shot-on-5D-MKII&highlight=wrangler) there's a great pro ad for Wrangler jeans which tries to capture the same sort of mood/feeling that you have. It just doesn't do it as well. Some people will get it, others won't. (OK, nothing's really totally perfect, perhaps you could use a less provocative title and definitely remove the underlining. But that's not the point. As far as form and content, please just keep going with what you feel - I'd also be interested in what lens you used).

I'm going back home (to nashville) this weekend to both play a show and, you guessed it, film more stuff to edit into one of these! It's going to be a blast. While on the other hand, it's the blondes birthday in L.A. and who knows what shenanigans they'll face here.

And now! I just finished my next OWABTY video, "The War of Northern Aggression".

As always, comments, hate, love and mainly sex are always welcome.

Here are some (largely uncolored) stills.

So, this is what happens to people when they don't get Coachilla tickets? Just aimlessly wander the desert, shooting up ****... and again, as for sex, all my visions of modern youth are dashed... not one hot sex scene...

How about make a series... 'our weekends are better than anything you can imagine'... that would take it a ways out there...

. . there you go again. Good ol' j1clark, bringing in the "constructive criticism", if we can call it that. I think you're joking, but I can't tell.

So . . glad you watched it?

Now I can't tell if he's joking either, but he's messing with my chances of seeing more chicks in thigh-high stockings toting machine guns.

Boo this man, I say. Boo this man!

The photography is, at times, really gorgeous. I don't know what you're going for in the longer form pieces, but I think the style lends itself to advertising very well. A :30 from this stuff could be fantastic. Otherwise, I guess you chalk it up to an experimental installation piece that could handily play on a bunch of monitors in a Hollister store. That's not a critique, but your format is very derivative of that kind of ubiquitous b-roll I see in those stores.
