hi all,

i'm a new GH2 user--

i uploaded the sedna patch onto camera--got 26 mins. on my 32 gb card.

i then uploaded the orion v4b patch and now am getting 3 hours on the same card...can this be correct?
or did i not the patch correctly.

didn't think there'd be this much of a difference btwn the two patches.

thanks for any/all thoughts.

Well, look at the bit rates in the actual settings through the patching tool. Also that will help you understand how the patch actually works.
But bit rates in the high settings usually are around 70+MB, which means you'd be getting well under 1hr. But some of these patches give you 30+MB in the lower settings, which will give you somewhere around 2 hours.
Also, there are some VBR patches that have mixed times, based on the amount of detail being recorded.
I've tried most of the newer "low" end patches and have only gotten about 2hrs max.
So... Check you recording quality (H/L/SH/etc...), check that you have actually applied the right patch, and have a look at the patch's bit rate settings for your 24H and L settings in ptools.

Spanning is a good point.
Is your card full from using the patch both times? If not, then you camera failed to "span" the file and ended your recording.

I had just the opposite happen the other day my SEDNA patch showed I had 1:15 mins for a 16 gig card. When I looked at the footage in streamparser it wasn't even 1 GOP so something went wrong while I was loading the patch. I assume the same thing happened to you. I have no idea what patch is loaded in my camera right now.

after looking at my sedna .ini patch in text editor I noticed the last part of the of the patch information was trunciated... somehow in the process of unzipping that file some data got cut off but it still loaded into PTOOLS... im assuming that maybe only some of the settings were used or it reset itself to the basic settings or something.. Maybe something similar happened to you but I would check your .ini file to make sure the whole patch is in there.
