Ordering list...

Putting together the list of stuff to get with the 7q

I noticed the battery plate for the 7q is not in stock. I'm not sure, but I thought I read somewhere here that these are not readily available. (i.e. BH says 7-14 days but you don't get one for months????? is that true?)
If true, where did you get your battery plate? This batt plate

How about this cable, good?
BNC Cable

I had Olof's WestSide AV plate but recently sold it because I bought the SOLID Camera Odyssey Solution. Olof's plate is nice for the money, relatively small and can be switched to either the left or right side. Nice for balancing or giving clearance for certain configurations. I don't think I could go with CD's plate since it's just one configuration with no options.

I have to say that the dovetail system on SOLID Camera's cage is pretty amazing. The Sony battery plate is remarkably small and you have the ability to move it almost anywhere. I'm hoping to shoot a little hands on video and show some different configurations with my setup.

When did you order Alan?
I ordered about 2 week ago and i just received email from B&H
"The manufacturer has informed us that we can expect these plates to arrive in our warehouse by the second week of next month."

I had the Olof's westside AV plate but it make my 7Q fail in recording high frame rates, now i'm avoiding using it and just receive D-tap cable for power 7Q from my V-mount with 2 sony np-f970 batt and it work well. I waiting to try original odyssey 7Q battery plate to see wether it will fail in recording high frame rates or not.

Before you dive in to a battery plate, think about how you're going to mount the 7Q. I got the CD plate, which spans across the entire middle of the back of the monitor, turned out to be a little limiting since the 7Q has no mounting hole on top.

If you're looking at getting the Solid Camera solution, or Westside AV's mounting plate.... won't work with the CD battery plate. Maybe you won't need any of this and the CD plate is fine.

If you do want the CD battery plate... i got mine at Ablecine. I see it's back ordered now. I believe it was in stock when i ordered. Keep an eye out.

As for SDI cable, one to consider is Convergent Design's 3' slim cable (the 18" one is too short if you want the 7q in a shoulder rig position). Very slim and light, nice to have that flexibility.
I also have a Cinecoil cable which works great. It's just kind of large is all. That one you linked is probably good too.

I had a Odyssey7Q kit on order from B&H, everything was in stock except for the CD Sony L Battery plate.... i waited for 3 weeks while everything was on hold for it to arrive, and was told it was another 2-3 weeks away (this was 2 weeks ago). Eventually i gave up, told B&H to ship the kit as it was and refund me the cost of the Battery Plate. I emailed AbelCine and they had it in stock, i bought one, and i received it from them ASAP.

My advice would be to source it from somewhere that has it in stock. Supply seems to be a problem.
