Ordered HMC from B&H

I'm actually surprised that B&H isn't getting a direct line from Panasonic with these. They are a hot seller, B&H is a respected online store, and I don't think that making people wait is a good thing on anybody's part. I don't necessarily think this is B&H's fault, but who knows how hard they're pushing to keep them in stock. Same thing with the 5D Mark II's. If I were Panasonic OR Canon, I'd be pumping a great deal of my supply to a place like B&H because product moves there.

Do you guys think that Panasonic is trying to quietly fix some of the issues that some are reporting here (i.e. audio popping/cracking) and that it might be holding some orders up? Just a thought.
 
Just as an indication of the current wait list, I ordered mine on the 14th, and the order status was updated this morning to Processing from Backorder, so they've at least gotten that far in.
 
Sounds like you guys are in. Most of us that ordered the week of the 23rd or so are next in line.

It's called supply and demand. They can only manufacture them so fast. And with the audio issues, I certainly wouldn't want them to rush them out even quicker.
 
By the way, anyone who has the HMC and has sent in their rebate:

How long does it typically take for the rebate to be processed and the "goods" sent out? I remember the rebate for the DVX I got way back took quite a while.

Man, I ordered mine from B&H on March 24th. I called yesterday and they said it should be in Yesterday or today (the 31st). The website still says back ordered on my invoice... Ah!

I did pay for the 2 day air, so I still should be good well before the 15th... But what? B&H will be closed for a week starting on April 8th!! Crap! That means they need to get that thing shipped before the 8th no if ands or buts.

I personally love B&H, I have ordered from scam companies that say you only get the "Body" and you have to buy the lens, battery ext warranty and more in order to get the deal. Thank god they canceled the order when I didn't want their crap. Bah-ram-You! Ill wait and have peace of mind knowing I wont get screwed out of $3500.

This is the 1st time I have waited... but like it was said, I ordered knowing it would take 7-14 days longer, I can wait... just not longer then the rebate allows! Panny should extend the rebate till the end of the MONTH! I have never seen a rebate with such short post mark dates... usually you get 30-90 days to send it out after it expires...

Anyone know of new (after March 31st) Panasonic Rebates for the HMC150? It would be my luck that the new rebates will offer more!

Check this topic, I think someone said that a new rebate is coming in April, but that the current rebate is a better offer.

Also, if the delay causes you to loose the rebate period, I should expect either Panasonic or B&H would go out of their way to fulfill the rebate. I remember someone (perhaps here) even quoting a Panasonic rep who hinted they would accept rebates after the 15th.

To be safe, I'm submitting as soon as I get the camera and determine I don't need to send it back. That's my main concern - I'd get the camera, cut up the box, then find some fault with the camera a few days later. At that point I don't believe B&H accepts returns.

True that... I will be giving my HMC a good feild test before i cut the box up...

Order update: Now PROCESSING!! Whahoo
 
No it's still processing. I'm not sure what the holdup is, Gabe told me this afternoon he saw mine in the box ready to go.
 
Mine has said "Processing" since yesterday morning. I even called today and they said it was shipping today, but it doesn't look that way now. I'm quite frustrated with this whole situation. They originally sent me a previously opened box with a defective camera inside. I returned it, and now this. My original order was March 6th, and here it is now, last day of March, and still no camera with at least 2 days of "Processing"
 
I was wrong above... I ordered on March 2nd, and it shipped on March 6th. I really needed that camera for a shoot this weekend. Silly me to assume that ordering March 2nd would be good for a shoot on April 4th.

Even if it did ship today now, my 3-day shipping wouldn't get it here until monday. Oh well, so it goes.
