Ordered HMC from B&H

Lee you could try having someone out of state order it for you (if you know anyone out of state) and then just pay them back through paypal or something and have them ship it to you when they get it. It would be a little longer and maybe too much of a hassle idk but if you like this place thats once way around the sales tax.

Yeah, I was thinking that also. Sadly, I don't have any close family that I could do this with that live anywhere else besides in Texas. I have some family in Jersey, but they would probably just keep it for themselves. Ha!

Oh, and they don't have them in stock right now. They should be getting 15 hmc150s on Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday being the 31 is the last day you can purchase the camera and still get a free battery and card from Panasonic.

I checked Amazon, Vidinc.net and several other places, and they all have them in stock right now. Getting frustrated with B&H regarding STILL being out of stock, I just called. The rep on the phone said they are expecting some by the end of the month, and wasn't even totally sure about that. That's cutting it really close for the 4/15 rebate deadline, considering that B&H is closing on 4/8 for a week.

I'm thinking about canceling my order and getting a refund to order from somewhere else.

Dan

Check back on page 3, I called Monday and spoke with the NJ dealer that actually supplies B&H - he was confident they'd have their shipment either tomorrow or Friday.

I ordered mine from vidinc yesterday. They seem very helpful and respond to emails quick. I talked to them on the phone too and they were nothing but nice. They also said they would invoice the order in time to get the rebate even if not in stock at the time so that's cool. They told me they will have them in by Tuesday or Wednesday next week and ship the same day. I hope all goes well and I can't wait to get my hands on this thing.

Well hopefully they get them today. I used their live chat and asked them if they know when they are going to be back in stock and they said "no.".

That was a lot of help. :(

I used to have the idea that B & H was the safe way to go but you paid more. Lately it seems their prices are much more competitive and often the best deal around.

EDIT: Well I called them up to see what was going on and they said they are going to contact their supplier monday/tuesday, and who knows what that means.

I also just ordered from VIDinc. They said the same as Tony240sx said, 15 coming in by Wed and as of yesterday 7 accounted for. $3,145.00 Hope to see it soon. I also did a first time computer build yesterday with an Intel i7-920. Really unsure of what I was doing but it went great. Installed Vista 64-bit to use for now with CS3. Credit Card is still pretty warm.....

Tomiger:

If you're going to cancel you should call now - they close at 2pm.

Gabe M: I will make a request to check it with the manufacturer and then to get back to you.
Allen Ellis: How soon should I expect to hear back from you?
Gabe M: Since today we will close at 2 P.M. there is a chance we won't find it out till Monday.

On the bright side, I've been upgraded to one-day shipping, so once they ship it, I'll get it the next business day.

What a headache! At the very least this suggests a very popular camera, since so many places are having trouble keeping it in stock.

@mgilbert - you're going to have fun! Which manufacturer did you go with?

Hey guys,

new to the forums. About to be a new HMC owner as well. I ordered from B&H on the 24th. I ordered multiple items with the HMC being on backorder. All of my other stuff showed up today. Here is a snippet from the invoice:

Am I seeing that correctly that the backorder will follow the closing? If so, I think we're all in trouble. Maybe I'm not understanding it. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Just thought I'd share.

Take care,
-Brad

Welcome to the forums, and good choice on the camera. My understanding is that it will be backordered until they get another shipment. If it comes before the April 8th, they will probably ship it. You might give them a call to see when they expect their shipment.

Their website has said "will be back in stock in 7-14 business days" for about 14 business days now. I placed my order 10 days ago and the sales person assured me it would be in stock sometime this week.

The live chat person today said they're hoping for them "any day", but they're are afraid to commit to anything except what the website says: "7-14 business days".

If they do indeed cause the backorder to go over the 15th, I should hope B&H would be willing to throw in the extra battery and SD card themselves, or else offer a gift certificate of equal value. I'm not sure.

Great news! I've been speaking with spec-comm and this is something they sent me today:

Hello Thomas,

Unfortunately that camera has been sold.

We do have some good news regarding the rebate. There has been some concern about the rebate, since it is for cameras purchased by March 31st, and the rebate is supposed to be postmarked by April 15th. However with the stock situation, it's possible that people may not be able to make that April deadline. We've confirmed with Panasonic that as long as you've bought the camera in March, then you're getting the battery and 8GB SD card.

Obviously, you wouldn't want to wait six months to turn in the rebate :) but you can safely keep your current order and still apply for the rebate.

From what we've heard, there will be a different rebate come April, and the current rebate ending in March is the better one.

Please let me know if there's anything we can help you with.

Have a great weekend!

This should not be a problem. As Tomiger RoPort just posted, the rebate covers any purchase with an invoice date (the date that you ordered it) that falls within the rebate period. I called Panasonic's rebate center to make sure, and B & H dates the invoice from the point that you ordered. I know this because I ordered it a couple days before the rebate went into effect, and therefore was not eligible even though my camera didn't arrive till a week after the rebate started.

The problem was we were worried we couldn't get the camera in time to send out the rebate by April 15th, which is when it said it needed to be sent out. I was already sure I was eligible for the rebate because B&H charged me for the purchase, so I physically bought the camera on the 17th. My concern was again, getting the camera in before the 15th so I could send the rebate in. From what I was told by spec-comm, there shouldn't be a problem now anyways.

Good news!

Gabe from B&H said:
I am glad to let you know that we just received the item! It should ship today, to be delivered tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Gabe M.

Their website still isn't updated to say 'in stock' but by the sound of it, the shipment just rolled in their doors in the last hour or so (I was chatting with him at noon). :)

Take it for what it's worth. I guess we just have to be patient and understand that we are all getting the rebates, but we have to wait for our new babies to show up. haha
