Optimum shutter speed at 24P?

Most of my shooting is going to be in conjunction with my HVX200's. With the HVX's I shoot everything at 720P 24PN. I can't do that of course with my 7D so the closest I can come to it would be at 1080p 24.

Would it be better for me to shoot with a shutter speed of 30 or 50?. In film, I would want to be at 48.

Would it also matter whether you are shooting indoors or outside, depending on the type of lighting used (e.g. flourescent)?

1/50 is the closest to 1/48. However, if you're shooting under fluos or HMIs and they're not high-speed electronic ballasts, you'd be much better off using 1/60.

1/40th or 1/30th when trying to blur/soften for aliasing, 1/50th when you want classic film style.

Interesting that Canon didn't program the 7D, or 5D for that matter, so that when the camera is in movie mode, the shutter rates correspond with typical movie shutter rates, and not still rates. I wouldn't imagine this would be too difficult for them to implement. They already have some functions enabled when shooting stills and disabled when shooting movies and vice versus. The menu listing should change accordingly with what shooting mode you are in.

Does anyone know why the minimum shutter speed is 1/30 in 24p mode rather than 1/24? (Same on GH1 too), whilst on the 5D the minimum shutter speed is 1/30 in 30p mode. Why does 24p mode need the extra 6 frames on the shutter rate?
