Opinions on aftermarket batteries?

Are these the type of things that will be more expensive in the long run? Like when they explode or fail within a month of getting them?
 
I've been using them forever. Battery science isn't rocket science. They won't blow up. And my after market cheap-o $12 batteries work as long or longer than the $45 Panny one. Just my two cents, but I've been using aftermarkets since I bought my DVX-100B (four years ago-ish) and I've never had a problem.
