I was a bit disapointed to find in the specs page that it doesn't do 1080 60p as do many of the new Sony units. For some reason I was under the impression that it did. Oh well. I will still get one though. In Australia, it appears to be called the AF103. I was also considering the JVC GY-HM750 simply because I like the form-factor, but a lot of the glass used there results in horrible chromatic aborration. Also, the 720 block is less than appealing. Still, would be nice to have the AF10x in the same formfactor
In terms of lenses for this beast, Nigel Cooper reckons you can control the aperture of EF lenses using the iris control roller, but I am yet to find an EF adaptor that passes the electronics through. I am correct in assuming that there needs to be the electronic contacts on the adaptor for this to work? I couldn't find anything at B&H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/searc...OS&ci=3420&N=4277997813+4289371083+4289366803
Okay, I think I get the framerate thing (after having read some of the manual). It won't make a recording that plays back at 1080 60p, but it can record 60FPS in vairiable framrate mode while doing 1080p. That's all I really wanted. I do have to say that I find it annoying having to switch to 60Hz in order to reach maximum FPS when most of my target output is aimed at 25FPS (which is just easier because you don't have to think about flouro lights and your country's AC frequency). Logically, if I am doing variable FPS, I'm taking things into my own hands so shouldn't need to be limited. I suppose it has something to do with the internal clock speed.
At least the system frequency can be changed...
Does this mean that, for all internts and purposes of filming, it really don't matter which country you're in as to if you get a AF100, AF101, or AF103?
(other than the power plug that comes in the box).
Speaking of user manuals, is there a user manual available for the AG-HPX250. This unit is quite the weapon for that form-factor. If no user manual is available, how about a decent spec sheet.
There is no posted User manual for the HPX250 at this point nor is there a spec sheet, but soon. The product does not deliver til the end of this month.
Just took delivery of our AG-AF103 (manual is in Chinese). Very excited... still charging the battery... Will do a review at some point. Have recorded video of the unboxing... Very happy chappy... already got a phone call from another videographer who wants to hire it.
