Operations Manuals for the AG-AF100

Sort of a Quick Start Guide:
http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/includes/pdf/AG-AF100%20OI%20Basic.pdf

Then the more in depth:

And for those guys in the US, if you didn't find it, go back into the box and find the certificate that allows you to claim a copy of The AF100 Book by Barry Green. The February shipment will have it in the box, but deadlines are deadlines and try as we did, the first shipment got a coupon. Please fill it out and mail it in, Barry will fulfill post haste.

All the best,

Jan

PS. Sticky please?

Hi Brian, Actually starting with the January shipments it will be in the US boxes.

Best,

Jan

So...do I keep hoping for an earlier delivery and have to fill out the coupon, or do I hope that my number is juuuuust far enough down the line to get one of the first books in the box?

These are good problems to have. Thanks to you both.

The AF100 (or 101)

The AF100 (or 101)

Hi, Jan. From Argentina.
I am really looking forward to its arrival here. Being an owner of a DVX100 during so many years, I really got the best of that fantastic camcorder. Every single feature was the very best (including its large LCD monitor and the viewfinder).
The AF100 (or 101) seems to add to everything good that can be read in the available tecfh literature, also a large LCD (would it be as large as the DVX's?) and viewfinder, so I am really looking forward to it!
One question, indeed. Would the camera have a motor driven zoom as well? Same as old times analogic cameras with interchangeable lenses (though I presume that they had the engine within the body of the lenses, hadn't they?).
Thanks, Jan, and keep on producing good machines to help us bring our stories up to life...!
Ana.

You are in the wrong thread.

Hi Jan,
Got my cam last week... I have to say, you all Did It!!... Kudos for delivering on your promise... I felt immediately at home with the new cam... it truly is a relative of an old friend.

The certificate for Barry's book was in the box along with Volume 1 of the printed manual in English and one in other languages. Certain passages refer to the advanced manual. I did download the PDF of the Advanced version (thanks for that), but I was wondering if there was a printed version of part II that didn't make it for the early shipment? Or, is the book taking the place of the print verison?
Also thanks for your presence here.
Best Regards
Dale

Hi Jan,
but I was wondering if there was a printed version of part II that didn't make it for the early shipment? Or, is the book taking the place of the print verison?

The Advanced Volume is not printed anywhere. You could take it to Kinkos and have them print, trim and bind it from the electronic version if you wish.

Sorry,

Jan

Sorry didn't see your question till the am. There is no motor driven zoom lens for this camera as there is not way to power them from the camera.

Best regards,

Jan

Hi Jan. I am looking forward buying a recorder for my af101. i could't find anything about 25p on hdmi output? also i am wondering if there's 10 bit 4:2:2 coming out of hdmi? kind regards from germany. stefan

Hey Jan,

I am only asking you this question cause I can't find an answer anywhere on this site;
Does the AF100 have a visual time date stamp that is recorded onto the image for legal videography?
Cheers.

thanks Barry,
don't understand why! I've been shooting depositions with my HVX200 (date stamp present while camera is on and not recording)
I was hoping the AF100 would have it. I own a GH2 so all my lenses, SD card etc. can be swaped back and forth.
BTW I still use your HVX book, how about doing a small primer for the GH2?
R

Well, technically the HVX200 doesn't have a date stamp either. The HMC150 and HPX170 have it, but the HVX doesn't.

Now, if you're using the HVX like you are, you could probably use the AF100 the same way... might get the "pause" icon recorded in your external footage though...

I've thought about doing something for the GH2, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

I record onto a harddrive burner via the RCA outputs on the HVX, and as a backup I firewire out into my laptop and use OnLocation to capture. What would be the most affordable Panasonic camera that has the time stamp and records onto SD cards?
Thanks for the info.

Hi Jan - What about those of us in Canada. The manuals for the AF!00 really suck. I'm having a very hard time understanding the various aspects of the preset settings and the manuals don't really explain much. Is there anywhere on the Web I can get better and more indepth info (other than here :-)

Thanks
