opening 7D Camera raw files

Anyone else having trouble opening the CR2 files in photoshop CS3?

I have the latest update: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3822

installed in the right place, but whenever i try to import i get the message: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.

strange. Never had a problem importing my raw files form my old Canon Rebel XT.

I think you need a higher version of camera raw to read 7D's files. 5.5 is the latest version with support and it works in CS4 for me.

Adobe makes it clear that CS3 will not support Adobe RAW 5 or above. It's a marketing decision not a technical one. They are trying to force new camera buyers into upgrading to CS4.

As a side note, it appears that for the time being RAW 5.5 does not support the 7D's MRAW or SRAW formats.

If you download the DNG converter from Adobe, you can work with these files (in lightroom at least)

In the DNG converter options, you can set compatibility for CS3.
