OnLocation and Canopus AVI.

OnLocation is a major upgrade to DVRack 2.0:

- SeriousMagic's DVRack 2.0 HD offered you to record as AVI1, AVI2, QT AND Canopus AVI.

- Adobe OnLocation 3.0 (.1095.0) restricted your choice to AVI1, AVI2 AND QT (dot).

Yes, it would be a shame if Adobe allows to ingest acquired DV into EDIUS, or other Canopus codec based editors...

No! It is a SHAME of offering a "major version" (3.0) downgrading a software feature just to protect the Premiere market.

Or someone has a hack to tell the pref project file to generate a Canop AVI??

What about a petition to Adobe to "class-express" a "feature request" allowing Canopus AVI record? (as in the old good time...).

Sometimes upgrading is worse...

... And downgrading is better!

The mayor shame is that it is not even working with Premiere CS3.
I always get a red line in the timeline when I import HVX material (DVCPROHD 1080 25P@50i - PAL) into the timeline.

The settings for that kind of material given in the manual are also strange (lower field first)

I would love to work with OL but it sucks. Had to convert a days work to cineform because CS3 always chrased when I import more than 1 OL clip at a time. Had them all loaded one by one. When I reopened the project it chrashes.

Edius will open Microsoft DV files, so the removal of Canopus DV shouldn't be a big deal. It doesn't matter what your Edius project settings are (DV, DVCProHD, Canopus HQ etc.), you can ALWAYS seamlessly drop a Canopus DV or Microsoft DV file into it.

Regarding Type 1 and Type 2 AVI files in OnLocation, if you are recording DVCProHD and set the format to Type 1, you will in fact get a Type 2 file, but without the duplicate frames, i.e. you'll get the equivalent of PN mode.
