One long clip over two P2 cards

Sorry for the dumb question.

If part of a clip spills over to the second P2 card - how do you re-assemble both clips into one long one?

I have a PC with Edius 4 professional.

Thanks in advance!

EDIUS 4 Broadcast is what I am assuming you meant. You have to have the broadcast version to work with p2.

Other than that, just go to p2 select and copy and import your cards to the same folder on your HDD. EDIUS will relink them for you. I just did this with 4 cards a few of weeks ago on 4.13. Worked like a charm. Just shows up as one long clip in your bin.

You might want to verify that it worked properly before you go deleting your cards, just in case. But, EDIUs will do the work for you.

What's the workflow for this if you run Premiere with Raylight? I've never shot a clip long enough to need to do this, but when I do... I just put both 'contents' folders, and both lastclip files, in the same folder? Then what? Do I just import the clip from the first card? Or both?

It's about as effortless as anything could get. You just drag the MXF file onto the timeline, or into the bin, and it all just "works".

So you can edit right off the P2 card, or if you've copied your footage onto a hard disk you can edit right from there. No special preparations are necessary or anything, just go into the video folder and drag the MXF file right to the timeline.

For spanned clips (anything larger than 4GB or that is split across two or more cards), Edius 4 Broadcast will automatically create a Sequence Clip which includes all of the pieces that make up the one continuous recording.
