On Video Light Suggestion

I have been using Litepanels LP-Micro with my HMC150.

It has become evident, that this camera light just is not cutting it in low light conditions for me.

I do a lot of nightlife in clubs.

What would be a decent upgrade?

Comer 1800 would be the other one.

I came across the Comer 1800 and 900 in my search a few times; however, i became a little skeptical after seeing "Taky" promote it in most of the threads. It seemed too good to be true.

I have two of the Comer 1800s and would buy them again.

comers for sure.
the brightest LED with the most diffuse/even spread.
i only wish it weren't so bulky.

The Comer 1800 is, dollar for dollar, the brightest on-camera LED on the market. Like Averan said, the spread is even and WIDE!

And Taky is a stand-up guy... great customer service and he's even offered quite a few specials to fellow DVXusers. Taky was w/ Comer at their booth at NAB this past year. The product line is great and the only downside is the weight the larger 1800 adds to the camera.

There is also the MicroBeam 128 and 256 that are good options.

They had a MicroBeam 128 3200k option, but I don't see it anymore.

But I use a NRG Mite-Light and a Lite-Rite dimmer. It is not a led light, but I have it since I have a DVX100.

The mini-fill is probably the top light used for ENG. I use it for events and weddings or a micro-fill.

Most people on these threads have little experience with lighting and have no idea how powerful these lights are. And dimmable of course.

Most of the LED lights are flimsy toys compared to these rugged lights.

Get the Comer 1800 it's awesome. I bought one and turned right around and bought another one. My Micro Lite Pro is now used for detail work. Taky's customer service is excellent!

Ditto plaudits for the Comers (I have 1800 and 900). Of course, you can reduce weight somewhat by using the smaller battery.
