On the floor. What do you want?

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here, but I'l be shooting tomorrow, so if there's anywhere you want me to visit, ar any question you haven't heard answered, post a specific request here and I'll try to get it. I want to get detailed and deep. I'm going for the stuff that wouldn't make the cut in a standard product demo.

I'll take requests of close ups and details.

Also, anyone want to meet up?

You should go ask all the other camera manufacturers what they think of the BlackMagic cameras and how they plan on competing with them. Be sure to capture those awkward reaction shots.

+1. Go ask the hipsters at D-Bollocks what they think then go catch Jarred from RED and follow that up with KineRaw. It would be the most viral video of all of NAB.

Please check out the new high resolution Zeiss 55mm F1.4 and find out it's specific release date, how many aperture blades it has and how long the focus throw (rotation) is on it. Also would love to know what other lenses in it't new class will be available and when?

Thanks!

If you go to the Panasonic booth, can you ask if the HPX600 can be upgraded to AVC/Intra 200?
Much appreciated.

I have an open thread about this but if you see any new field monitors that are a bit larger in size - 9"-12" I would appreciate any info on them. Thanks

Try to visit SmallHD and ask them when they will be delivering their DP7-PRO OLED-SX and how they feel now about the new introduction of Convergent Design, the Odyssey7-7Q which are mostly the same and better monitors (+recorders) at lower prices...

I've always wanted a 17-50 (ish) emount 2.8 for my sony fs100s. (with af and that awesome IS just like the kit junk)

Why don't you go find the Sony guy and ask where it's at?

I would be interested in the Zaxcom Maxx. A really promising looking sound recorder. It has an optionally integrated RF stereo transmitter with timecode. My question is, does it also include Zaxnet? And therefore you can jam record wirelessly from another device like the camera?

Thanks.

Ask the Blackmagic guys what frame rate their 4K camera sends out of the 6G-SDI... it would be hilarious if they said "oh, we're sending it 60p 4K :)"

More likely they will just say 30p. But they have said in other NAB interviews that they might be able to increase framerates later.

If someone can ask Canon, when they will actually release the 5D mk3 firmware to enable 422, I would be grateful. Cheers

Long story short I didn't make over to the convention center in time to shoot much video, but I did follow up on some of these.

The Zeiss 55mm 1.4 wasn't at the booth. They said that they let someone borrow it. It, being the only prototype at NAB. My guess is that one of the larger publications is doing a piece on it, and that we'll hear everything about it soon. She did say that it would be going into production soon, launching in maybe 6 months for around $4000.

Panasonic HPX-600 will be paid update in the future to AVC Intra 200. 6, 12, 25, and 50mbit/s. 60p No word on time. No word on price, but they wouldn't be surprised if it was about $200.

Redrock Micro EVF they don't have enough engeeneers to do that and work on stuff like the new slider. So, still working on it.

Canon 5dmkIII Updater they had a beta at the BH booth, so it's stable, and coming soon. 3 weeks ish?

The rest of the requests I couldn't get to.

Aso, the blackmagic booth was one of the highlights. Next door to RED. All the cameras were aimed at RED. The global shutter seems less organic than I'd hoped (although of course it is early. The pocket cam feels amazing. Very solid build, and I saw someone record some footage and pull the card out, so I'm sure we'll start seeing some footage in the next couple of days.

Red's booth was pretty trippy. Hopefully someone got some good footage of the clean room they had set up.
