On cam light for hvx200?

I'm looking at all the cheap LED camping lights on the internet.. I mean $10 for a super bright 24 LED "HANG IT ANYWHERE" Light as an example.... http://www.amazon.com/24-Super-Bright-LED-Hang-it-Anywhere-Light/dp/B000OP1AJ6/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_text_b

how is this less than $10? How have camping companies found a cheap method for LED illumination???

I'm a big fan of Litepanels and Bebob LUX.. I use Litepanels alot and love them.. I know one is going to argue that the construction is top quality and built to last, etc and camping lights are made of cheap plastic.... but I just don't understand why LED camera lights can't be cheaper... somebody said it's because it's blue, okay rubberband a CT gel over it... Dimmable.. okay I'll throw some diffusion paper over.. Rugged.. okay I'll buy 3 backups... I just don't get it...

Just imagine what you could do with a bunch of cheap $10 AA powered LED panels and some velcro..

www.16x9inc.com is a US distributor for Bebob products. They've got the light listed on their site. US introductory/promo price of $775.

Hmm.. works out about the same for my best UK price. (but good for you stateside folks)

I think I'm going to have to take a plunge with this. I would go for the zylight but I'm just not happy with the battery outlet - perhaps they will come out with a DVX/HVX add-on at some point.

The Bebob looks promising; however, there is no mention of light volume...not even on the Bebob site.

It only says 12w. That "might" indicate anywhere from 24 to 48 watts incandescent equivalent, if you assume there is a 2x to 4x rule of thumb. If it is on the high side, then it may be a very useful light.

Spoke to someone about the Bebob yesterday, with the battery caddy you actually only use one battery and it splits the power between the camera and the lamp.

Was a bit worried what this might mean for the HVX, but they assure me you just effectively reduce your run time with no problems elsewhere. I suppose it's no different to running two batteries really - just that you will have to swap a bit more. But you have got less weight which is really good.
