C300: on C300MK2: LCD, EVF and monitor out do not work simultaneously.

LCD, EVF and monitor out do not work simultaneously.

This is very annoying, when I change my 300MK2 from Movi M10 (SDI connected) to top handle mode, I have yo get into my menu settings to change the output settings, this is very annoying. I never needed to do that on my 300MK1.

Am I doing something wrong?

That was my experience testing the C300 Mark II last week. Close the LCD display and the EVF fires up, but not both displaying with HD-SDI out. That and the no magnification in record makes the Mark II reminiscent of a $4,000 Panasonic palmcorder. Not acceptable in a $16,000 camera, IMO.

Wonder if it's simple oversight("Hey, no one will ever want to use all three at the same time") and is something that could be corrected in a firmware update, or they made a severely underpowered(under processed) camera that just isn't capable of doing that?

Canon still doesn't get what we need/want on the professional/broadcast/production level on a camera. Hell, my 2700(P2 VariCam) is a well over five year old design camera and it drives the VF, on-board LCD and three SDI OUTS all at the same time while it's recording.

I haven't seen anything compelling, yet, that makes me wanna go out and get a mkII(I doubt I'll ever get one unless I start "losing" money not having one). My original 300 still looks good and works(even with all of it's shortcomings). And if I need 4K/UHD or high-speed over 60fps, I have my F55.

I think if you've got the Rec Out instead of monitor out you should be fine. I assume you've changed the settings in the menu to reflect which elements you want.

Thnx man, that's the solution.
I appreciate a helping hand, rather than people texting happily that a camera is not good!

I just tried that, but then I get a 'real' monitor out view, no LUT and no info, so that's not the solution.

just checked the manual and they confirm the above, it is only possible to get the iso/fstop/wave/etc. when connected to the monitor out, not when connected to the rec out. that will only give the image straight from the cam.

Nevertheless, my concern seems to proven by the manual, I have to use OR the EVF OR the LCD when combined with an external monitor through SDI, when plugged into Mon. terminal out!
that can't be true!

Anybody that can tell me I am the one making the mistake?
