On-Board Camera Light Suggestions

What's a good inexpensive camera light for the HVX? I'm doing a lot of run-and-gun event videography to help payoff the camera. The events I'm shooting are in dark clubs and bars. The style doesn't allow me the time or space to setup lights and shoot. Help and brotha out! Thanks!

Inexpensive is relative, but you could check out Litepanels new LED based, Micro for $350. It runs off of 4 AA batteries or DC power source. It is daylight balanced, but comes with filters to gel back to tungsten. Check their website, litepanels.com, or most of the retailers have it.

If you have more $$ than you can check out their MiniPlus line that starts at $800 or so, but you can buy it with either daylight or or tungsten LEDs and then they give you the filters to gel back to the other color temp.

LEDs may not be the cheapest, but they last forever and seem to take a beating that regular lights or flos can't.

My .02 cents

Island Madman,
Anton/Bauer Inc. offers a 7.2v on-camera light called the ElightZ. It recieves its power from the ElipZ 7.2v 75Wh battery which mounts to the bottom of your HVX-200 via the 1/4 20 tripod plate, the battery also has the ability to power your camera. The ElipZ battery can power your camera and ElightZ continuously for around 3 hours.

You know... I keep reading posts across the board about how much should I spend or can I get by with less.

You've got one of the best camera's ever designed. Support it with the best. Buy the Sachtler tripod, light it with Arri's, float with a Merlin and put a Litepanel LED on the camera - the HVX is worth nothing less and it will pay you back a hundred times over in income.

Litepanels are worth every penny - ok, every hundred dollar bill. They're dimable, durable and professional - I wouldn't trade mine for anything!
