I am thinking about the oly 50mm f2 macro for the 43 system. I am worried about the focus by wire system and want to make sure that it works smoothly, and I can focus during recording. I am using it with a GH2 and will have to also buy a adapter for it.

Well, I have a GH1 with that lens and Lumix adapter. Focus by wire works OK, images are beautiful. It really is a great lens but for me is just isn't flexible enough. I may want to sell it so PM me if you are interested.

Yeah I hear that the focus is ok but not great. Its one of the best 50mm lens ever...... I wish they would update it for m43. I think am going to wait a while and get a nikon 50mm and some micro tubes to hold me over for now.

I feel the same way. Great lens, but should be a m43. Probably works better on an Olympus E-P3. I think you would get auto focus and image stabilization.

bitcrusher. I just checked out the panasonic compatibility page. It shows that the Olympus 50mm lens will auto focus on the GH2 body. Too bad it won't auto focus on the GH1.

I was considering this lens myself, but some have said that it focuses too slowly. And of course, you will need a 4/3 - to -m4/3 adapter. I decided to get the 45mm f1.8 instead, and I think its pretty good, except that I dont have the macro ability of the 50mm. I'm happy with it - its like using the 20mm f1.7, only its 45mm.

Then again, what made me pull the trigger was that a salesman in HK gave me an irresistable price - only US$ 322. That did it, and I bought it in a heartbeat.

@randyQ Yeah that 45mm 1.8 looks very nice and I may get that instead.

@BJ the auto focus is not a big deal for me, I just want to make sure that the focus is smooth and dose not studer. Good news that it will auto focus on a gh2!
