I'm looking to get the Olympus 14-35mm f/2.0 ED SWD Zuiko Zoom Lens to give me a good zoom lens. What controls will I have and not have with the AF100? Will I need an adaptor for this lens?

I've seen it mentioned a few times in posts but I'm unclear as to how well it will work with the AF100.

You have to have one of the four thirds to micro four thirds adapters to make it work. You can do push auto focus and aperture control with this lens on the AF camera. The camera will display F and focus distance. Works great!

What stinks is the $300 rebate on the OLY Zuiko 14-35mm expired on 1-1-2011, so it's back at $2299 (DEC price, $1999).

Luckily, I bought mine last Spring, during a similar promotion, but it still stinks for all the other folks on this forum who want it for the AF100.

Please read the fine print (from the website, Lens link) before you buy, though... this is an expensive lens and in order to qualify as a clearance item there are certain conditions which may be present and not worth the risk...

"This Clearance product may have been one of a group of display items. Although many appear to be New-In-Box, any given item may have cosmetic blemishes, been slightly used or may be missing small, inconsequential pieces. All open-box/display items contain instruction manuals and any accessories necessary for routine operation and come with the standard manufacturer's warranty (generally one-year) unless specifically stated otherwise. In addition to the warranty, should any Clearance item prove to be defective upon delivery, please return it within ten days for an exchange or a refund if a replacement is not available."

My Olympus arrived today. The adaptor will arrive tomorrow. The lens is pretty heavy. I will use it with a Zacuto rail and follow focus set up. Will I need to put extra support on the lens from the rails other than the follow focus (which doesn't really support it). I don't want too much stress on the adaptor/camera from the Olympus. I may have to add the support I used for my Letus35 to the rails.

How are others supporting it if they are at all?

You don't need a support for the 14-35 but anything heavier and you do need it. It's a very good lens and I have no need for my Zeiss 35 but I'm keeping Zeiss 50 and 85.

Cool Kylekmd. After some extensive research that's my plan, to buy the 14-35 f/2, 35-100 f/2 , and 50-200 f/2.8-3.5 . That lens support looks perfect thanks for the tip!

I have heard in another thread that the 50-200 SWD lens does not work with PUSH-AUTO button on the AF100 while the 14-35 and 35-100 does. Can you comment on this?

Thanks,
-Chris

Check the chart above.

All of the OLY Zuiko lenses in question show the exact same compatibility listing... Some are listed twice, and show AFS also, but I think that may be related to the latest lens firmware update. I am perfectly fine with push auto focus, but more often use manual focus. My AF100 arrives this weekend, so I can't say for sure what works and what doesn't. Sorry.

This lens compatibility chart about the AF100 lists the 14-35 f/2 as having PUSH AUTO functionality, but it doesn't mention the other lenses like the 35-100 and 50-200. However I've read user reports of the 35-100 f/2 having PUSH AUTO functionality on the AF100, so I don't think the list they put up is complete.

If you get a chance to test it this weekend and report back that would be great!

A lens support have to hold the lens. Not just have the lens resting on it."
So you don't think this is a good way to support the 35-100 with the AF100? What is your recommendation?
