Olympus 14-35, 35-100 zoom lens owners

Since the AF filter wheel has 2 stop increments - I find the the most useful ND is a .3 which gets you the 1,3,5,7,9 stops of ND should you need them along with the 2,4,6,8 stops of ND the camera gives you. I know some people like to adjust iso in small increments instead of using ND's and I'm not going to stop anyone from doing it even though I think Its the wrong way to go about managing a working f stop.

Messing with ISO to gain / lose anything less than a stop for DOF control is futile.

Problem is..some people own lenses with NO other way to do even the most basic of exposure control. Their need for ISO control to control exposure is real for them but they use the desire for DOF control as there reasoning.

Regretfully replaced our Oly 35-100 with 2 vintage Leica R lenses : 35-70/F4 and 70-180/F2.8
Terrific IQ of course, bit of a trade off with slower F stop and replacing one lens with 2 but ......(insert drum roll) ....no iris glictch!
These lenses are typically used by us in well-lit setups, ISO 800+, so slower F stop has been no problem. 35-70 is our default
interview lens used wide open, beautiful bokeh and F/4 can keep both eyes in focus : )

As far as I know there isn't a wide-angle Leica R series zoom. How does the Leica R 35-70/F4 color match/intercut with the Zuiko 14-35/F2? And I assume it hits repeatable focus marks and is NOT parfocal, right?

I love my 35-100 IQ but the grass is allways greener...

We kept our Olympus 14=35mm F/2 lens as our fast default wide angle , handheld lens despite the annoying iris glitch because the IQ was just too good to sacrifice. Our Leica R lenses are terific as well but are used mainly on a tripod. Not parfocal but a great variable focus lens w/repeatable focus marks for our Genus FF.
We have not been in a situation where we have had to match Oly/Leica lenses so I cannot address that, but that would be an interesting test as they are fantastic lenses.
Currently we have been testing a possible alternative to the Oly 14-35. We recently acquired an MTF B4/mft adapter to use our B4 mount ENG zoom parfocal zoom lenses and an AbelCine custom cable enabling the servo zoom and Start/stop button. Initial test results have been very encouraging.

My GH2 + Olympus 14-35 2.0, behaves differently.

Set to f2.0 zoom in tight to 35mm no problems, but when I zoom all the way wide to 14mm - somewhere about 15mm (guess) the f-stop changes, I hear the click, the footage goes darker, but the camera still reports f2.0.

Set to f2.2 there is no change throughout the entire zoom range.

So my results indicated to me that the lens was not able to achieve a constant f2.0, but could achieve constant f-stop at any other setting.

But now we are seeing different people having different results - this does not sit well with me... the image from this lens is fabulous, but these inconsistent results have me questioning the overall value of this highly priced lens.

Does anyone know when using the GH2 body with the Oly 14-35 is it ok at other stops? Like F/2.8, 3.5, 4, 5.6, etc? I would like to pick this lens up again with my GH2.
Thanks,
Shawn

With the GH2/14-35(movie mode) in front of me , F/2, 2.2, 2.5 glitch, F/2.8 no glitch at all focal lengths, F/4 glitch, F5.6 glitch , F/8 glitch

F/2 - 2.5 double glitches at 14mm and 20mm
F/4 - 8 single glitch at 14mm
F/11 single glitch at 18mm

Sweet stop is at F2.8 with no glitches from 14-35mm.

So it DOES glitch on the GH2 at F/2.2? I had read that it didn't. Oh well. F/2.8 is nice, but for $320 I just picked up the Sigma four thirds F/2.8 18-50mm and I don't think the Oly is 5 times as good for video work, plus I get the added reach of 36-50mm. :)
