Olympus 12mm $740

I plan to buy it as well.
But my experience with auto focus is that you will have more things in focus just setting it to 5,6 and to 3 feet then letting the camera pump the auto-focus.

I'm tempted but think I'll wait for more reviews with it on the AF-100 on B&H (or elsewhere).
Seems like the happiest owners were GH1/2 or EP-3 people.

I prefer SLRMagic 12mm f1.6 for $499 than the Olympus 12mm f2.0, since Auto-Focus makes this lens much expensive!

It is not being offered for sale or pre-sale on their web site.

The Noktor 12mm (SLR Magic) has had quite some pre-production reviews, including comparisons to the Olympus lens. The latest note I have seen from SLR Magic is that it was being delayed until late December. I've not seen any updates with a current release date.

I have this lens and use it primarily on my stabilized gh2 (much lighter setup than on my af100). It works great in low light and the image is beautiful. Also produced wonderful shallow dof, not too extreme for excellent separation. The autofocus is good for groups but when you get really close it can hunt so you'll have to be careful. Also manual focus is consistent focus by wire. Meaning that the focus is electronic but is hardwired to the position of the focus ring, so that is good. What's not good is that for rack focus the lens indexes in manual, so it's not smooth pretty manual in that specific use.

Overall it's a fantastic quality lens and I use it on my slider and stabilizer at weddings and events to great effect.

cheers mate. By "this lens" I'm assuming you mean the Olympus and not the SLR Magic which is currently proving to be a unicorn. What do you fly with Glidecam or blackbird? I was going to get the HD1000 but for about $150 more, one can get a blackbird that can work both the AF100 and the GH1.

I think once the SLR Magic actually makes an appearance on shelves, the price for the Olympus might drop.
