Olympic Addiction

It's a stupid rule which needs to be changed. It's just bad for the game. There's a reason why you have to clear the net on a serve.

I've been watching the TaeKwon do matches on like. It makes me sad to see where this sport has gone, when i was on the national circuit we actually fought in the ring, now they just stand there, you're lucky to see 7 kicks per round. and everytime someone takes a hit in the leg there coaches run out with some spray can and sray dow there leg. Its no wonder they are goiing to pull it after 2012

sad now

That May-Traenor / Walsh match was incredible. It actually had me yelling at almost midnight waking my wife up watching two chicks play volleyball.

That is what the olympics are about...

just watched Mark Lopez get cheated out of the gold because of morronic judges who didn't score several of his points. doesn't really matter, it like the rest, was a pretty lame fight.

Good save...I can't believe I shanked that one like I did... Absolutely pathetic.

Hopefully this makes up for it

Eric Lamaze wins Gold in Equestrian Individual Jumping.
Cool story. The guy missed the past two Olympics due to an addiction to cocaine. He cleaned up his act and had to fight for Gold in a jump off. Won it with a perfect ride.
Good for him.

Water Polo is a joke. The pushing, the holding, is that really allowed? I know you can get penalized but the stuff that goes uncalled is crazy! I really have no idea as to what the rules are though. Are you allowed to hold and push like that?

Why isn't Jiu Jitsui an olympic sport? That would be awesome.

Also, anyone think they will ever introduce mixed martial arts into the games? The so called 'brutality' may keep it away, but it's interesting to note that, Judo, Boxing, Wrestling and Taekwondo are all in which is basically 4 of the major elements of MMA. Jiu Jitsui should definetly be in the olympics.

The difference is:

Taekwondo, Wrestling, and Judo are all based on a point system

Boxing allows headgear and is geared towards amatuers.

With MMA you can't exactly have 8 rounds of fights and if you implement a point system it takes away the strategy of MMA.

If you had to go through different rounds in MMA by the end everyone is broken down and hurt already, the Olympics are only so many days long.

I can't see MMA ever happening because of those technicalities rather than the brutality.

Yeah, I agree. There is no way they'd be able to pull off a tournament in a two week span, most guys don't fight for like 3-4 months after a fight. They only way I could ever see them doing it, is if they had qualifying fights like a year before and have only like 6 guys in a tournament, but that is pushing it. You could maybe pull off a fighter fighting twice in a two week span, anything else, would be to tough. Although in Japan they have tournaments where fighters will fight twice in a night and in the old UFC days, fighter fought 3 times in a night, but that was what gave the UFC a bad name and no will sanction that stuff anymore. Not to mention its extremely dangerous.

I've been to some Jiu Jitsui tournaments and there great to watch. They have a scoring system setup similar to wrestling, boxing, judo and so on.
