Olympic Addiction

I'll admit it... I'm officially obsessed with watching the Olympics.

I watched the equestrian events today, and even though I had no idea what was going on, I was glued to the television.

I don't really understand the synchronized diving, but I watched in amazement as I wondered why no one attempted the triple lindy. That would be historic.

So I'll officially admit it... My name is Jeremy and I'm an Olympic addict.

I think what I like is that it's absolute. This one person is the best, the fastest, the strongest. For someone in the arts, where everything is maddeningly subjective, that is very appealing.

Yes and no. Just look at all the previous Olympians to be stricken of their medals.
Not to mention biased judging in other events.

I get your point though.
For the most part this has been a controversy-free Olympics. Minus the little girl signing during the opening. :D

Interesting. I noticed that the NBC feed is way behind the CBC feed. Hours behind actually, yet claiming that it's Live? They just showed a commercial for what's coming up and I saw it all unfold earlier tonight.

ive noticed something similar... my friend in california told me to turn on the olympics to watch volleyball... but it was on the gymnastics here in maryland...

i was confused...

I've probably watched more Olympics this year then in a while. Anyone else notice a surprising number of production mistakes? It seems like every night I tune in I see a cut to a camera that's not in position yet or an instant reply that's in the middle of being queued up.

Bob Costas, who is my personal favorite sports caster of all time (I hate you Joe Buck) was breaking down Phelps' breakfast:

"...Three sandwiches of fried eggs, cheese, lettuce, tomato, fried onions and mayonnaise, add one omelet, a bowl of grits, and three slices of french toast with powdered sugar, then wash down with three chocolate chip pancakes." -Costas

That is insane. This guy is consuming 8000-10000 calories a day and burning every single one of them....

He's a machine, complete freak of nature, but easily one of the best athletes in the history of the planet.

I'm not a sports person. Can't stand a single one of them. But the Olympics keep my attention for days at a time.

12,000, apparently.
