I've got an old Mac Powerbook "Pismo" model, it's a G3 and is running the latest OSX. This powerbook has a PCMCIA slot. Will a G3 handle the offload chores of a P2? What software will I need to install to handle this?
TIA
No clue about the G3 powerbooks. I was a pure PC guy at that point in time. With the latest Mac OS and FCP 5.1.1 you should be able to offload and ingest footage into your system. Pretty sure a G3 powerbook can't run FCP 5.1.1 though.
If you only mean it for a footage dumping ground in the field though, I would think you'd be okay. Might be helpful to team it up with something like P2 Genie just to help with organization, but that's not necessary if you feel you can manage that fine on your own. Then you can dump the footage from there onto your main hard drives.
