Hello everybody! I have just received my first dslr (canon t2i) and i have been playing/experimenting with it the whole day :P

Anyways i have this old pentax camera with an smc-fa 28-90mm and i want to mount it onto my t2i. What would i need to buy so that i could mount it on?

I also have some questions too :) I am planning to mainly shoot music videos/short films with the t2i and i need to know which lens would be best for filming those nice depth of field shots and my budget here is 100-600$.

2. Should i buy an LED light?

3. which steadicam would you recommend to purchase? (hague, balvanz etc)

Thanks in advance!

1. As far as I know thats a K-mount lens. You can pick up a K-mount to canon eos adaptor on ebay/amazon pretty cheap, although I'v only had experience with m42 mount adaptors. You may lose infinity focus with that adaptor, I'm not sure.

2. (I'm assuming you mean hotshoe mounted light) I've never been in a position where I've thought I really needed a LED light, but it totally depends on the type of filming you plan on doing. I'd say you'd need/want it if you plan on doing event video (night clubs etc) or documentary stuff. One of the main advantages of these camera's is how well they handle low light, with the ability to push the ISO to 1600 and still look fairly clean with natural lights.

3. I'v just invested in a Glidecam HD-1000 which I've been ecstatic with so far. I don't know enough about them though to recommend which to get, but think about the type of filming you want to do first. A lot of the shots I prefer doing are hand held and i found myself needing that stability.

You mentioned which lens would be best for depth of field, I'd strongly recommend the nifty fifty (canon 50mm f1.8). Its very cheap, less than £70, and give you some beautiful depth of field when you open it up to f1.8. and its great for low light aswel.

Hope that helps! I'd think a lot before spending money on equipment. And dont just rely on my advice because I'm still new at the video side of things and probably am a little misguided myself.

Just to briefly expand on your first question: a PK-EOS adapter is indeed what you need to buy. You can get them cheap, but don't go too cheap...the first one I tried to buy on eBay didn't work (the lens wouldn't lock into the adapter). You should not have any problems with focusing to infinity, so don't worry about that. Just remember that even though you have an autofocus lens, it won't actually communicate with the camera at all, so you can only focus manually (not that you can use AF during video anyway).

i would get a fotodiox adapter. i have a couple...one of which is k mount to eos....and it was better than the previous kawa brand i had.
