what do you think? 7D or the GH1?
i have bought the 7D and im hoping for answers favoring the 7D lmao but yeah, gimme what you got... i think 7D can produce better quality videos.. because out of the best videos online right now... 7D beats GH1...

Just my opinion but the 7D is much better than the GH1 aaaaand a hacked GH1 or GH13 is much better than the 7D...
If you don't think you can make satisfactory images with your 7D, you just bought it so return it.

Each is better than the other at some things. The only empirical, unquestionable "better" that we can say, is that the hacked GH13 is better than the stock GH1.

Other than that, each is better than the other FOR A SPECIFIC PURPOSE.

I think it all depends to shooter. I saw very nice GH1 videos and did so 7D, all about production. And IMHO 7d is lot better still camera.

I personally prefer the GH1(3) in terms of usability, lens support, and image quality...but take some solace in your better dynamic range (more than likely), monitor output, better still photos and still usability, and your larger sensor.

Its really a toss up. I've owned each and love certain things about both cams. I went with the 7D in the end and don't regret it.

+1 Barry

I wouldn't sweat it - and heck, a lot of my best footage was shot on a pre-hack GH1, I like the hack but it didn't make me any better as a cinematographer!

Unless one of these cameras has a particular strength that you *absolutely* must have in order to do your project, any of the Canons or the GH1 will do the job and they're all going to do it pretty well, and I'd say that none of their strengths/weaknesses is going to be enough to make one *better* than the other, they're all just a bit different... none of these cameras is a magic bullet, I think it's very doubtful that you'd complete a project on the 7D and then say, oh man it would have been so much better had I done it on the GH1, chances are if you can do it on one cam, you can do it on one of the others...again, barring any one specific thing that might be absolutely essential in order to pull of your project that is exclusive to the GH1/5D/7D/T2i.

For me, my first choice would have been a 5D, but there was no way I could afford the kind of glass I wanted in EOS mount, I'm crazy about fast lenses and wanted manual focus only lenses...so Canon FDs and Rollei-mount Zeiss lenses for me. To me the GH1 was always about its ability to take so many kinds of lenses, getting to pick and choose the best lens for the job, no matter who made it, to me that's the GH1s biggest strength.
