i just sold my DVX 100B
I am ready to make a switch to a new cam now I am not the greatest tech guy when it comes to all the functions of camera's so I loved the DVX as it was not to hard to learn.

I am stuck between the canon XH A1 or the Sony HVR V1

what do you prefer

Mumm, I settle for the money :-Laugh(DBG): It is also always good to have spare cash in my pocket.

I got the XHA1 and never looked back. Even though My DVX100b was better in low light. I think the A1 allows me to manual tune it to match my ex DVX100b in low light. The XHA1 low light footage are not no par but close and good enough to use. But again, SD and HD cameras are different in low light.

You will miss the progressive mode (if you ever used it). The only cam featuring a true, non degradating progressive mode is the HVX200

trust me you won't miss progressive mode on dvx just as oters on here who made the switch from dvx to canon a1 don't miss it.as a matter of fact in my opinion the progressive on the canon looks better to me.

Coming from someone who cam from a DVX to an A1, I can with all confidence tell you that you will not miss anything. The A1 24F is as true to 24P as 24P is. Yes it does loose 10% resolution when compared to the 60i of the A1, but that is still as high, if not higher than the competative cameras on the market, including the HVX. Want to shoot 720 60P, also possible to do with A1 just with a little post production added in, but in the end, the results speak for themselves. It is funny how so many people diss on technology they know nothing about. The proof is in the pudding, if you like the footage you see all over this forum from the A1, then it's the camera for you, if not, then why bother?

after shooting a music video with the V1 and seeing how bad it did.....I think I am going to get an A!

I'm definitely getting an A1 also. Oh, wait...I did already.

It's a great camera. Progressive mode looks identical to the cadence of the DVX100 so there's no loss there.

Skrott- what camera did you use to shoot the "super hottie" coming out of the pool? Me and a bunch of the guys are waiting in the other thread for footage... :)
