Hey guys. I just did a shoot on Sunday with the H4n and a brand new Rode NTG-2..I have 2 issues, maybe I have a setting wrong or something. I'm getting a hiss and low levels even though I had the input set at a decent level. Any ideas before I shoot again?

Did you have good batteries?
There have been reports that if a battery is at 50% or lower, there will be added hiss on the H4n

I had the same issue this past Tuesday. My first time using it, and the audio was coming in low as hell via the XLR, but the stereo mics came through just fine. Any settings I need to do out of the box for it to work right?

I haven't had the time to sit down with it since I made the purchase... luckily I was doing a music video when I ran in to the issue.

Yes, I threw a filter on the clip, took down the highs and the hiss was gone. But, this shouldn't be, should it?

run the audio in waves z-noise plugin, im not sure what host your using for editing, but a vst vewrsion of it will work in most hosts, you can iso the freq u dont need and should sound much cleaner ..
