Oh my... some girls are just plain crazy.

Hahahaha! Awesome. I've known people who are seriously like that, but have never been afforded the perfect storm to actually go over the edge like that.

they both sound like they lack basic communication skills and intelligence

Seriously... he sent a postcard to his grandmother. Important, yes. But he didn't have time to do the same for his girlfriend?

Didn't change his Facebook status?

Didn't leave her a card?

Couldn't stop and find an Internet café somewhere in Europe?

It's funny, but really looks like he's got little room to lay blame.

I don't believe it.

As if she would forget. Are people really this stupid?
If he had told her he was going away she would have remembered after a day or two at the most. I call BS, or at least largely fabricated.

This was awesome. A bit puzzling. I understand no roaming charges, but no internet in 2 weeks. This guy never once needed to open his email?

That was highly enjoyable.

Probably college kids fresh out of school for the summer. Who cares about life back home when you're going to Amsterdam?...

There are a lot of similarities between this and what happened with my first GF. Same names (initials in my case), same situation (went to Florida, not Europe), same types of msgs/texts/letters (no Twitter/Facebook back then) even with a similar Kubler-Ross-ish progression, and even haunts with the same nickname ("Maddy" = The Madison House, a bar, up here in T.O.). The only major difference is that I broke up with her before I left, but didn't tell her till I got back (I know, I know, it was kinda a dickhead move, but I was young(er) and stupid(er)). Wish I kept some of her letters/msgs though... "Hell hath no wrath..." Would've been great inspiration for MonsterFest.

Is it just me, or do you guys have an experience like that as well?

When I go on vacation, it's an actual vacation. Cell is off and left home/in the car. Laptops are left home. I don't check my email. I don't go online. Nothing.

I suppose I am old fashioned. I like actual vacations, not vacations where I need to check my emails and phone.

//She sounds like some of my ex's.

Me too. I don't get why all the backlash for not checking his email. Whenver I go somewhere, I absolutely HATE to check my email and phone. I could be sitting in the middle of paradise but nothing would take me out of it more than having to respond to a call or email from 'back home'. So, I just don't do it. I completely unplug.

Having said all that, Em is still hot.

How does that even work?

I dated a girl who was a little crazy like this, but in no means would she forget something this big. I don't see how that's possible.

How does that even work?

I made the decision to be single before I left, so I ignored my GF for a couple weeks, then left without telling her I was leaving, then officially broke up with her when I got back - over the phone (...where's that 'hiding behind the couch' smilie when you need it?). Yes, it was douchy, and yes, I regret handling it that way.

In my case, my first GF was a raver (a "Junglist") and was only about the here and now, the music, the lifestyle. She really didn't care about anything outside of that.
