Offloading SXS cards

Quick question from the newb.
I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the literature if I can offload SxS cards directly from the camera in a pinch. Anyone out there that can walk me through that if it is possible?

Also any idea of the offload speeds in doing this for a 32Gb card compared to a reader ?

Got a shoot tomorrow and haven't even had time to get a card reader.
By the way any suggestion for cheapest option ?

Most of my work will be done on a Samurai anyway, so an SxS will be merely backup or for 60p.
Thought I saw someone had a solution a while back to trick out the SxS slot into storing slomo on an external drive too...

You can using the mini USB port just below the iLink port on the back of the camera, but it might eat your hours on the camera as did many old cameras like HVX200 and HPX170 which worked this way.

I suggest you check any laptops you currently own as many have an express-card slot that your SXS will fit into and allow you to read. Just install the drive you need from here

It works to use mini USB from the camera and both cards turn up as drives. But I rather use the SxS card reader.

And keep in mind that Sony announced USB 3 card reader at IBC for those with USB 3 machines.
