Panasonic has unveiled their official site dedicated completely to the exciting new DVX200 camera. The site has intended to be a living growing resource for all things DVX200. There are some video samples on the site now and more will be added continuously. Of course there are specs and detailed product information. Additionally Barry Green will be contributing to the site. If you have the DVX200 on your radar keep the site book marked and check it often.

Barry knows his stuff, always has. This looks like a good resource for those that will be purchasing this camera. I'm on the fence, I love the feature set of this cam, perhaps after reviewing more footage I can be swayed. I hadn't planned on buying another m4/3rds camera, but the simplicity of this thing will make life so much easier when run-n-gun shooting. Speaking of gun-n, Barry used to do some awesome gun reviews. Not sure if he still does today though.

Wow, it seems like Panasonic is pulling out all the stops to promote this camera. The extent of this pre-release PR seems unprecedented in my experience for a piece of "professional" equipment. Prototype cameras, reviews and footage all over the place, the Japan tour, Barry's book and support deal, the (now version 2.0) web site with its slick trailers teased out over a span of weeks -- more like what you'd expect for next season's big TV series or the new Detroit model year than for a specialized piece of pro video gear that certainly will not sell millions of copies. Is it because Panasonic thinks they have something really special on their hands here, a change in their marketing strategy, just an experiment, or an act of desperation? Have we ever seen this much publicity preceding a new camera release in the past? The DVX100 and AF100 certainly were unique new products in their times, but I don't remember anything like this level of hype over either one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sold on the camera because it will fit well into a project I'm involved in right now, but somehow the scale and tone of the advertising don't quite fit with my impression either of Panasonic or the type of user who would buy and use this product. I'm just kind of scratching my head about it.

Was needing help on transcoding. I will be using the Dvx200 shooting multiple levels of production. I will shoot some in 4k and give footage to client for editing, then some I will be shooting in 4K and transcoding it to ProRes so I can edit it in FCP 7. My question is what 3rd party software can I transcode the 4k footage to ProRes.

Thanks
john

Seems to be a bit of green "fringe", green area around the sun on some shot, aswell as round some object with the bright window in the background from the MC shop. This is shot on preproduction models? I can't remember seeing this type of problem with GH4?
