OFFICIAL A1 Custom Presets thread

Here's my new preset based on demand for more vivid colors.

I used Panalook as my starting reference and built up from there. The colors are much more intense than Panalook and may appeal to those looking for more of a punch. I haven't had time to do a spreadsheet on this so I'm sorry for those who need that.

I'm including a quick still out the window of my office using this preset in slightly diffused sunlight and also the CPF preset itself. I'm calling it VIVIDRGB.

I have waited and waited for a sunny day here in Seattle but with no luck so the example below is not ideal, the sky was pretty bright and I didn't have a graduated ND filter at hand. If I had, you could see how intense the blue is.

I have not tested this for noise or sharpness and in all lighting conditions so tweak it as you like.

You can download the preset here: http://www.pinelakefilms.com/vividrgb.html

very very nice. Thanks for the presets, i use pana look all the time. i am going to use this preset to shoot the cherry trees. i know it has been awful around here but summer around the corner.

Gents, you need to "right click the link and save as".... I put that in there deliberately because you can't load the page directly.

disjecta, please excuse me, i had JUSt bumped my head and probably knocked my senses slightly to the left.. and you know about the left... that side is no good...

*EDIT*
actually, i did that and now hwen i open it it opens your page with the sorry, this page has been removed, within excel.

i can't figure out how to import this CPF file to work. I imported it onto my card, put it back in the camera, went o customep resets, and the card - > camera option is blacked out so i cant like... offload to camera..

For some reason if you follow the first link above, and then save as, It will give you an html file. The correct CPF code is there, but it's an html file. If you shoot over to Steve's post at DVinfo you can download the CPF file.http://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=81071&page=4
I just renamed the file PRESET01 and dropped it on the card. From there you can transfer it to the camera or just run it from the card.

i did that, but it wont see the file now. The only file on the card is this file, and i import it, go to custome preset, third option is blacked out.

This is what i get when i open the spreadsheet.

i right click on the link you provide, Save as, it saves as an excel file, and this is what it opens.

I tried using the preset file, putting it on the card, placed it back into the camera, but as i stated, it wont read it off the card for some reason. In the custom presets > Then there are three options, the presets, setting the presets from camera to card, and setting the card presets to the camera. That third option is blacked out.

thanks very much mister D :)

interesting. You grab makes the colors soo vibrant, but when i do it on mine, everything comes out very magenta ish.

Papa, I have not yet found a preset that suits all lighting situations. You can use this as a starting point and tweak it to your own taste. I am getting a slight magenta cast on some of my footage also but these presets are always a work in progress for me.

well, once you've found your treasure, share it wish us!

personally, ive never really understood how the last part of the presets affects the footage:

"RGM 10
RBM 10
GRM 10
GBM 10
BRM 10
BGM 10
"

I want to discard all other attempts at the preset I call VIVIDRGB and make this the new and final one for now:

Gamma: Cine1
Color Matrix: Normal
Color Gain: 25 (This is about the limit. Adding more color does very little to enhancing chroma and does a lot for introducing unwanted noise)
Color Phase: 0
Knee: Low
Black: Middle
Master Ped: -5
Setup Level: 0
HDF: High (or "mid" if sharpness is set to 0)
H/V Detail: 0
Sharpness: 3 (adjust to taste)
NR1: Off
NR2: Off
Coring: 0
Red Gain: -2
Green Gain: -2
Blue Gain: -3
RG Matrix: 0
RB Matrix: 0
GR Matrix: 0
GB Matrix: 10
BR Matrix: 0
BG Matrix: -13

This setting is free of any color cast. Best results are had by white balancing and not relying on the presets. Special thanks to Tom Roper for kick starting the settings.

Here's a still using this on an overcast day (be careful to avoid fire engine reds and neon orange colors sometimes found on street signs):

And here's some taken indoors with outside natural light:

I wanted to see how red performed with this preset...not bad:

Nice overall vibrant colors:

preset . I might need fine tuning later .
thanks a lot .:cheesy:

Okay, I've got a question for all the xha1 users... obviously you're internet savy if you're reading this - so I'm going to assume that you've checked out all the presets at dvinfo.net. If you've downloaded them, please inform me... HOW THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT?? I registered my name there weeks ago, but I cannot post reply or download any presets. This sucks because I just got an xha1, and I'm so stoked to try out every preset i can find. I tried emailing them twice to ask why or when I can start posting and downloading, and I haven't heard anything back... have the admin abandoned this site? Sorry to talk about another site here, just wish I was in the club.

It takes a while for his to get around to enabling the new accounts I guess. It's a great site though so just hang in there.

XH-A1 Frame Grabs: Panalook and VividRGB presets

First pics is Panalook, the rest are VividRGB. It has been overcast skies in Vancouver for months, resulting in very diffused light ( second pic) ! Only in the last few weeks has there been a bit of sun.
