Two FREE 256GB SSDs Included with Odyssey7Q+

Any recorder is only as good as the media it records to. Convergent Design believes that the only safe and proper way to capture professional video and RAW data from today’s modern motion picture cameras is to use media that one can absolutely trust. All Odyssey SSDs are tested, certified and warrantied to work with our Odyssey monitor/recorders. Odyssey SSDs are available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. All Odyssey SSDs are compatible with all of the files the Odyssey monitor/recorders can capture, no matter the resolution, frame rate, codec, format, RAW data structure, or bit rate. Odyssey SSDs are the most reliable media available for any monitor/recorder.

For a limited time, the Odyssey7Q+ monitor/recorder will ship with two free 256GB Odyssey SSDs included. With two 256GB SSDs, the Odyssey7Q+ can record more than an hour of 4K Apple ProRes and more than five hours of HD Apple ProRes. Additionally, two 256GB Odyssey SSDs allow for enough data capture speed to record 4K60p RAW from the FS7, FS700, and C500 as well as 2K240p RAW from the FS7 and FS700. All of the other formats the Odyssey7Q+ can capture are also supported. With two SSDs, one can be downloading files while the other is used to record more material, eliminating downtime and delays at the end of the shooting day.

This limited time deal is for the Odyssey7Q+ only. The two 256GB Odyssey SSDs (a $790 value) will ship in the box with the Odyssey7Q+.

For more information about the impressive Odyssey SSDs, please refer to our white paper, “Why to Trust Your Footage to Odyssey SSD's".

--------

Odyssey SSD Three-Year Warranty

Odyssey SSDs are the most reliable media available for any monitor/recorder. They have high sustained read & write speeds to capture high data loads without error and offload them quickly. Odyssey SSDs are rated for long life with high performance throughout, and include Power-Loss Protection so that files are not corrupted or lost if the recorder loses power. They are built to robust and consistent standards set and maintained by Convergent Design.

With the confidence of the performance and reliability of the Odyssey SSDs, Convergent Design has extended the warranty period to three full years. All new Odyssey SSDs will ship with the three-year warranty. For the thousands of Odyssey SSDs currently in use, the next firmware release for the Odyssey monitor/recorders will include an update of the warranty end date that is stored on the Odyssey SSDs. Our next firmware release will automatically update the SSDs when they are inserted into an Odyssey monitor/recorder.

Convergent Design warrants Odyssey SSDs to maintain full read/write performance and stated capacity for a period of 3 years. Physical and/or electrical damage to the SSDs are excluded from this warranty.

--------

Odyssey7Q+ Includes HDMI Cable

Many Odyssey7Q+ owners wish to use their monitor/recorders on small cameras such as the Panasonic GH4 and the Sony A7S. Using thick, heavy HDMI cables can prove difficult, so beginning today Convergent Design will include an HDMI cable solution with every Odyssey7Q+. This cable is three feet long and thin enough to be able to coil up any excess behind the Odyssey monitor/recorder.

I just phoned B&H Photo to place an order for one of these bundles. The guy I spoke with (Christian) was clueless. Have these bundles reached your dealers or is this a some-time-in-the-future deal?

Thank you,

B&H has been fully informed on this with plenty of advanced time so that they could input the information into their sales & inventory system. I don't know why Christian was uninformed but I suggest you ask him to inquire with others at their shop or with their own computer system. All the info is supposed to be there.

If a dealer does not have the SSDs in stock then you will be issued a voucher and the SSDs will be shipped to you shortly thereafter. This will be handled through the dealer.

Wow, impressive, happy I just bought a 7Q+ and it sounds like I'll be getting my free SSDs soon.

Is this limited time like the $500 discount on the 7Q was limited time?

If I recall, that one was limited time only because they discontinued it in favor of the 7Q+ a few months later... Just so long as a new super awesome 7Q++ with a 4k OLED and 12G-SDI that's only 1/4" thick and uses half the power isnt 3 months away :P

Hopefully the MicroHDMI fits the a7s port lock!

Thanks for the response Mitch. I called back and spoke to a manager in the Pro Video dept and B&H did eventually update their website. I was able to place an order today for the 7Q+.

I have my 7Q sold and have been in contact with Amber @ CD to find out the process to transfer everything over. This new SSD bundle in combination with the loyalty program worked out awesome for both myself as well as the gentleman that is purchasing my original 7Q.

Thank you,

OK, I will give away one piece of info to address Noah's conspiracy theories. Convergent Design will NOT be releasing a successor to the Odyssey7Q+ at NAB! The Odyssey7Q+ has only been out for a month, give us a chance to catch our breath! ;-)

I have not tried the Micro HDMI in the Sony port cover so couldn't tell you if it fit.

Well, you know according to Sony, the Sony FS7 was NOT a 'successor' to the FS700 either right? :)

hey Mitch,
I'm wanting to record Sony SR-SQ 444 RGB out of my F5 as proRes 4444. Right now, my F5 can deliver SR-SQ444 RGB which I can record as .dpx. According to the specs on the C-D website, a future update to the O7Q is going to be 1080p RGB 12-bit 444 up to 60fps. I beleive this is within the spec for Prores HQ 444. Considering that several feature films have been or are being shot in Sony's SR-SQ, this ability to record it as prores444, or even better Avid's newly released DNxHR, would be real bonus. I know you won't give any firm dates for future releases, but, can you define whether this update is being worked on, or if it's just too far down the pike to even speculate?
Thanx

It is being actively worked on, and while I'm anathema to give forecasts after being burned on them, I can say that the light is visible at the end of the tunnel.

While we are pursuing both, I would expect that as of this moment Avid flavors will begin arriving second.

Very funny.

Seriously, we're just shaking the dust off the Odyssey7Q+ and you guys are speculating on us replacing it? Y'all complain about how slow we progress and then you think we're gonna pull a rabbit out of our hats at that speed? Seriously?

i've been to many different forums and i have to say that DVX members are the most "HARD TO PLEASE". They will complain on everything. :) Or maybe i'm just too mellow. (*_*)

on the serious note, since i have couple 1TB SSD drives already, i can trade the 2 SSD for RAW Record Option? same value. :) :) :)

No, but you could sell them to someone else.

or run another promotion as "free raw recording option" with purchase. Oh man, that would motivate lots of potential buyer. Oh crap..i just become of one those "hard to please" member now. :)
