True, me too, but can't we have it all?

Yes i agree but other file systems would still be good. I presume FAT32 was used for maximum compatibility with all OS's.I would take other versions of ProRes, 4K ProRes, and several other features over alternate file systems, personally.![]()
I'm happy with FAT32 and 4GByte file limit. Each time a file is closed and a new one opened, a portion of the sequence has been saved. If anything were to go wrong, you've reduced how much you would lose.Sure would be nice if CD added support for other filesystems.... exFAT, NTFS, HFS+... any of those or all of them![]()
Yes that's a good point Stuart. Wonder if that makes any real difference though with the technology these SSD drives have that writes files securely (that Mitch has spoken about many times - it's meant to be fine to pull power while a file is being written and have the file remain intact on a reboot). I've not tried that though. Would be interesting to see more technical details of what's going on at a low level.I'm happy with FAT32 and 4GByte file limit. Fantastic and I did. Dan Keaton's mojitos are the stuff of legend. The man brings a mint plant to NAB and plants it in the hotel garden until our party! How was the BBQ? Shouldn't you be drinking copiously now?![]()
Yes that's the limitation of FAT32 - just use the CD file combiner app to copy and combine files - it's really simple and quick
Although, Mitch - would be good to have some kind of percentage done and data rate readout in the app - particularly if you're using it to COPY files, not just combine them.
We want to be compatible with as many systems as possible, we want to maintain file integrity and we want to use the fastest possible recording structure, which is very important when you start dealing with 4K/60p or other high data loads.Sure would be nice if CD added support for other filesystems.... exFAT, NTFS, HFS+... any of those or all of them![]()
Do not underestimate this.I'm happy with FAT32 and 4GByte file limit. Each time a file is closed and a new one opened, a portion of the sequence has been saved. If anything were to go wrong, you've reduced how much you would lose.
Lol it must be a big mint plant - you get through a LOT of mint in Mojito's!Fantastic and I did. Dan Keaton's mojitos are the stuff of legend. The man brings a mint plant to NAB and plants it in the hotel garden until our party!
I barely made it back to my room.Lol it must be a big mint plant - you get through a LOT of mint in Mojito's!
We will have a path to support 4K HDMI and therefore the new Sony A7S on the Odyssey7Q.
It is in active development. I'm hoping to see it in the next major firmware update but can't promise at this time.Hey, Mitch--
Been monitoring (no pun intended) the discussion thread here and am ready to take the plunge on the 7Q! I recall there being some discussion of custom LUTs available as a future firmware upgrade. I'm sure you've seen the the SmallHD has this feature and wondering if/when we might see something like this on the 7Q - http://fast.wistia.net/embed/iframe/fshj6s1aeq
Thanks!
Any path that allows 4K will likely allow HD 4:4:4 as well. Still in development so I really can't state what will or will not be required for implementation.Hi Mitch,
That's great news! Will this path also include support for 4:4:4 capture over HDMI? Will it require a hardware update/fix?
Thanks,
Gary
Just out of curiosity, are we due another firmware update soon? Would be great to get some 4k ProRes and some 2k ProRes @ HFR. Cheers
