In UE we have got 14day for send back, and They give me full money back! :D maybe you can do it to and buy in new price :D

Dear Mitch

I hope you are not going to sell a new version with HDMI2.0 and 12G SDI in the next few months?

I am trying to buy one to connect to my Panasonic AG-DVX200, will 7Q+ support its 4K60p with or without the Raw bundle option?

Thanks

I'll let Mitch answer what the 7Q+ can and can not do in this case.

Before you decide on which external recorder to get you might want to read these DVX200 tech briefs:
http://business.panasonic.com/AG-DVX200PJ.html#tab3
Output at UHD/60P out of the DVX200 is limited to 8-bit 4:2:0. The other resolutions and frame rates can go to 10bit 4:2:2, but with internal recording disabled.

I'm considering getting the 7Q+ just for the monitor features so this price reduction comes at the right time. Reading the specs I see that it draws 8 watts in monitor only mode and that would give me something like 7 hours from one Sony BP-U60 battery right?

Please rest assured that CONVERGENT DESIGN HAS NO INTENTION OF REPLACING THE ODYSSEY7Q+ ANY TIME SOON.

We have ongoing plans for the Odyssey7Q+ and we intend to continue to keep it a relevant product.

The January 2016 firmware update (almost here!) will include 4K60p video to Apple ProRes support. 4K60p video is not RAW so does not require the Odyssey RAW Bundle. However, the Odyssey7Q+ can only accept 4K60p video over Quad-Link 3G-SDI from cameras such as the F55, VariCam35 and IO 4KSDI. The HDMI input of the Odyssey7Q+ is limited to DCI4K24p and UHD30p. If someone manufactures a converter to take the UHD60p output of the DVX200 and convert it to Quad-Link 3G-SDI then the Odyssey7Q+ will be able to capture that signal and record it in Apple ProRes. Currently no such converter exists (the products from AJA and Blackmagic Design are not capable of this).

Yes and no. By the numbers that sounds about right, but I rarely find this to be true in the real world. There's resistance in the materials, inefficiencies in the battery chemicals, and a minimum voltage threshold before the Odyssey will shut off. I would peg realistic run time closer to 5.5-6 hours to be safe. Still, that's pretty long.

Hmm... trade in program for my O7Q for your ol' buddy Bill ; )
Unless someone wants to buy mine before the sale ends.

We had a Loyalty Program for O7Q owners when we first introduced the 7Q+ and it was quite generous and lasted for four months. We even repeatedly publicized the end date so people wouldn't miss it. Can't do this sort of thing forever.

Any hope for 4K over Dual Link 6G SDI or 4K/30P over single link 6G SDI now that it's known that 7Q+ has 6G SDI spigots (vs 7Q 3G SDI spigots)? Source: Convergent Design Website, Apollo Option page.

I'm thinking about picking up a 7Q+ in addition to my 7Q for monitoring use with Alexa Mini/Amira/Canon C300mk2. Alexa Mini will soon get 4K/30P over 6G SDI, apparently (or got it already, not sure). So being able to use that would be great!

I've yet to shoot a client supervised commercial with any of these 3 cameras without needing the 7Q due to SDI output allocation and modes. Alexa Mini/Amira locks SDI 2 to 3G when in 3.2K or UHD mode. The AC wants look around info and P scanning, Director and Client want 1.5G SDI PsF Clean Feed, DP/Operator wants LOG 444 w/switchable LUT. Cue Odyssey7Q/7Q+ and problem is solved. :-) Cue 7Q+ w/6G SDI and that nervous client's need for backup prores recording is also solved! :-) (Alexa Mini has only one card slot...)

(Per Arri's forum a solution for SDI 2 out is scheduled for SUP 5, so probably 6 more months where 7Q/7Q+ are must haves in those situations.)

I was pulling your leg Mitch, but thanks for your reply.
Can't stress enough how integral this tool has been to my workflow on multiple levels. I'm sure I sound like a paid endorser but I swear I'm not!

Oh, I'd say more than just a hope...

No sweat. I answer even the jokes because there's other people reading these forums who don't know all the history and options.
