Odyssey7Q+ event with Sneak Peek at new functions

I'll be at Talamas in Boston on Thursday morning presenting the Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+. As part of the presentation I will be "Sneak Peek" demonstrating some new functions in our upcoming firmware update. While some of these functions have been hinted at previously, others have been kept secret and unexpected. There are a few spots remaining for the event but you need to RSVP to Talamas via this link.

Bummer! I'm actually going to be in Boston on Thursday but won't be able to attend. Is the sneak peek of the features due in the upcoming march update only, or will there be other features for future firmwares updates (April +) in there as well?

BTW, I'm so excited for programmable LUTs that I can barely stand it!

Mitch reveals himself being a marketing diva?

Selection of moods of the day: :crybaby: :) :( :undecided
Keeping fingers crossed for the folks at Boston, you catch a sunny day.

I don't really understand why CD releases new information to the public in small events and then won't share all that information to the wider public and more importantly to the rest of their customers. What could be the point of that besides just annoying their customers who want information not teases? And it just seems to serve to show off how small or uninterested those in attendance were that no one shared anything online either? I remember this happening with an event they did in LA a couple months back, too. Seriously though I'm kind of curious if I'm missing some genius marketing strategy that I just don't understand, though this one wasn't hyped like the LA one, but obviously I'm just jealous that I couldn't go myself since I'm not in Boston.

We need everyone to pay attention when we release new firmware or make a big announcement. That is for your benefit. We can clearly track the number of people who download a new firmware release or open a bulletin posted on our website. The numbers clearly show that if we don't hide info and build up the marketing then we don't get as many of our clients updating their firmware.

We are also subject to certain contractual obligations, whereby I cannot talk about certain things in a wide open forum such as DVXUSER but I can get away with it at a small regional event. Should someone else then go on the internet and report what ws said it is their act, not mine.

There actually is a thought process and a logic to what is shared, and to the best of my ability I do try to answer any all all questions honestly. If I'm in a room with 20 people, I might be able to demonstrate a new top secret function and because they can see it right in front of them I can get them really excited about it, enough so that when that function becomes available in a short time those people will eagerly run to support it. With the separation of the internet, such things are much harder. So we'd rather wait until we actualy release so that the online community can immediately download the update and try it themselves.

The event was video recorded, but at my request it will not be made available until Convergent Design has released it's next firmware update.

Those names that shall not be mentioned again...
Are the contractual obligations (approval of codec compliance?) still pending?
Then, I vote for March 31, too.
And one of those puppet video introductions, if you need to sit and wait.

We're so crazy busy with all of our firmware update work that I don't know if we'll have time for a puppet video, but the Mitch puppet may just be making an appearance at NAB. He has his own fan base, which is rather disturbing.

I'm heading to NAB for the first time, I'll have to meet Mitch-Puppet!
