Odyssey7 & Odyssey7Q Status Update

How do we buy this cable? I see you gave the item number but googling it returns nothing, the search on Convergent Design comes up with nothing. I'd like to get one of these cables early since it sounds like the other option boxed with the 7Q is a wall adapter.
Like all our products, it is available for purchase through our dealers. If they do not list it on their websites then you may have to contact one directly.

Wait are there no buttons at all that we could program for toggling focus and waveform for example with a hood on? I hate 3-sided hoods.
There are two function buttons on the left side of the Odyssey7Q. On initial release they will only perform their default settings, F1 as LOCK (locks out the touchscreen controls) and F2 as SHUT DOWN (the proper way to power down the Odyssey7Q, closing out files and updating the directory on the SSD). In a future firmware update, both of these controls will be programmable for other settings.

The Odyssey7Q has two touchscreen Tool Bars. The Upper Tool Bar (above the image) is setup and record controls. Generally you do not need to be constantly dealing with these controls, at least not as an on-camera monitor/recorder. The Lower Tool Bar (below the image) is the monitoring and image analysis controls. We're working on a clean and easy way to access these controls with a sunshade on that still provides proper shading.

Mitch, is there any sense of when the Android application will be available? That seems like the best solution to using the 7Q with a sunscreen.

I suppose if they don't make the sunscreen too deep, the touch screen should be fine. That's the problem with the Small HD sunscreen. It's really smart and I like it, but it's 8 inches deep which is way too deep IMO. It gets really clunky on a rig because of the size.

Schedule should be released in a few days. I know we have someone working on the Bluetooth interface now.

I actually like the dp6 sunhood for its length. Shot a corporate gig out on farms and depots in midday sun and the shade was the pefect length to bury my face in like an evf and my eyes could still focus on the screen. Not a ray of sun could get in there. Great design!

speaking of which, wouldn't a clip on loupe be better than a sunscreen. I know, a loupe for a 7 inch FOV might be hard, but, infinitely handier than a sunscreen. In fact, if it's designed right, the on-screen buttons could still be accessible.

Any reviews in yet? And did i read that i couldnt reasonably expect to get one til Jan 2014?
We are just shipping this week, so I imagine reviews will be popping up shortly.

Our dealers have put in large preorders to us.A lot -- we're talking four digits. We are on track to ship all of our current Odyssey7Q preorders before the end of the year. We have no way of knowing if the orders placed by our dealers are all already spoken for or not, so it is best for you to contact your dealer. If a dealer has 100 on order but only 50 presold, then that dealer may have stock available to sell earlier than others.
