The POV RAW Record Option is for various special function cameras with RAW output. The RAW data is captured as Cinema DNG files. The POV RAW Record Option is $1495 to purchase or $99/day to rent through the Convergent Design website.

The cameras currently supported include the IO Industries Flare 2KSDI and the Indiecam indieGS2K. Supported RAW formats for these cameras are as follows.

IO Industries Flare 2KSDI 2048x1080 23.98 – 60p 10-bit RAW

Go to www.convergent-design.com/firmware-downloads.html to download the latest firmware, update instructions, firmware release notes, quick-start guides, and the latest Odyssey7 and Odyssey7Q manuals.

An Odyssey SSD or Odyssey Utility Drive is required to perform the update.

I also want to point out how many little background glitches and annoyances have been cleared up. These engineers have been crushing it in smoothing things out.

Cool stuff :)

Pixel drag selectable mode will be nice - I still drag the wrong way!

So - how much work is there still to do on the 4K compressed mode?

Hi Mitch,

Just found a bug in the new pixel zoom "drag the image" mode. If I drag to the top left and keep dragging, the screen turns off. If I drag back again it re-appears.

this is in FS700 4K2HD mode 50fps.

edit: happens in 25P mode as well and in 1:1 and 1:2 and in both 'follow move' and 'oppose move' modes.

Thanks,

Paul.

Oh, also - when scrubbing footage in playback either paused or while playing, the TC counter doesn't update. Did that happen in the previous version? Makes cueing up to a particular TC a bit hit or miss.

Does the Pro-Res also included 1080p60? Or drop-frame (59.94) only?

Also, any timeline on opening up 1080p60/5994 for HDMI input?

Currently it is 1080p59.94, not 60p.

1080p59.94 or 1080p60 over HDMI will never happen as a direct input on the Odyssey7Q. Our HDMI input is hardware-limited to 1080p30.

We are working on a path to deliver 1080p60 as well as 4K video over HDMI for Odyssey7Q owners.

Thanks for the reply.

A little confused stil...so the 7Q can't do it because of hardware limitations but are still working on it for the 7Q? Or did you mean the 7 can't do it because of hardware limitations but are working on it for the 7Q. A bit of a shame if the 7 can't do it because of hardware, because (understanding hardware costs) it would have surely only been a tiny increase in cost w/ little impact on the CD side for the hardware to be able to support it. But it is what it is. Just have to race against another manufacturer promising similar specs at a cheaper price that will have 1080p/60 via HDMI.

If I had to speculate I'd say I think he means they will offer a paid hardware upgrade or some kind of accessory that converts HDMI to SDI specifically for the 7Q.

Well I can do that myself with or just get a Shogun when it's released in mid-October as its HDMI will do upto 4K30fps in and support 1080p50/5994/60/100/119.88/120. Supposing it doesn't pull back on the promised specs. :-/

I'd have purchased probably 10+ of the Odyssey 7's by now if the specs lived up to the promises. Only reason I keep hoping is I know the CD chipsets and the quality of the records are damn good for the price. And the Atomos products can have colors that are a little washed out.

The current hardware in the Odyssey7Q can only accept up to 1080p30 over HDMI. We are working on a path for our Odyssey7Q owners so that they can record higher density signals originating on HDMI.

I just came across this post and I cannot believe I missed this.

I am interested in capturing 1080/59.94 (or 60P) in the Apple ProRes 422 format (HQ or any other one) onto an external recorder from a camera with an HD-SDI output that is able to shoot 1080/59.94 or 60P.

Just to confirm, I can make this happen with the Odyssey7?

Thank you.

Confirmed!

It is a major new feature of the Odyssey7 and Odyssey7Q. I believe the only other recorder even close to the price range that can do this is the Ki Pro Quad, which is considerably more expensive.
