Odyssey Firmware 2015.7

Thank you alle for the great hints and @StrBrd thanks a lot for the convincing photos. Now I have to find them in Germany with fast delivery, otherwise I will exchange handles between SSDs on my trip.

Sorry to place it here in the update thread:
Are the handles for Samung SSDs exactly the same as for the proprietary CD SSDs? Are they glued at the CD SSDs?
I ask, because here in Germany the handles seem not to be available, but I am going on a trip, recording long footage on 2x CD SSDs and a 1TB EVO - and I would be fine with screwing the handle off (one time) from the CD SSDs after its full and change to the Samsung SSD. Rather than copy the terrabyte between the SSDs on a slow USB2.0 notebook.

BTW - Could you imagine a "copy" function for a coming firmware update? I would like to record important events on one holy proprietary CD SSD only and duplicate those important clips to the second CD or a Samsung SSD, immediatly as backup before transportation/flight.
They are the exact same handles. They're not really meant to be repeatedly removed and reattached, so please use case.

The copy function is one that we have looked at. It is something we may add down the road.

I followed the direction and used the supplied super glue and then put in the screws. Logic says just using the screws should be fine but my take was if I used the super glue i wouldnt have to crank down on the screws therefore i wouldn't risk damaging the hard drives by over tightening. As far as the comparison between the CD SSD handles and the handle kits you can buy I would say they are the exact same.

The plastic around the screws is a little thin and if stressed can crack. The screws are more locator/alignment points. The glue keeps the handle from flexing and possibly cracking. If you use them without glue you'll probably be fine, but there is a reason we include it.

Would it possible to enable a monitoring mode where the image is only 1/4 of size? A zoom out if you wish. Image would be placed on either of the four corners of the screen. On top of this one could have RGB histogram in one corner, LUTted image on one corner and maybe the upcoming vectorscope on one corner.

This would be a handy exposure assistant as well but the reason Im asking is I would love to have a smaller image when going handheld.

Actually now that I started thinking about it I did a google search and came accross this image? Hmmm... http://blog.abelcine.com/wp-content...actual_size_300DPI_LWrender_1280-1024x772.jpg

As that image indicates, such a mode is in our plans for the future. Great minds think alike.

Mitch, just wanted to jump in and say I've finally had a chance to test the 7Q with this and the last update alongside my FS7. After all my previous moaning on here I thought it only right to say well done on coming along in leaps and bounds with regards more accurate image/colour/contrast and now having a system in place I'm happy to use and recommend.

The LUTs work brilliantly too. Great job all.

Thanks Ben, glad to hear it's working well for you.

Did a corporate shoot yesterday. Recorded over 3 hours of 4K ProRes LT from the FS700 in SLOG2 onto one of the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB drives and all worked perfectly. Transferred to my Mac with the CD transfer tool (v1.8) and all works perfectly fine in Premiere CC 2015. Video looks great.

Great to hear.

I saw that today the prices on some Samsung SSDs dropped. One can get an 850 EVO 1TB (1000GB) for $350. Thirty-five cents per gig!!! Compare that to the cost of any other reliable media.

Hey Folks,

I have not done the 2015.7 update yet and am wondering if there are any other issues besides what's been posted here? I have a 7Q+ which I use to record DCI 4K from a FS7.

Thanks and I hope your folks are doing well,
Robert
