Odyssey Battery Bracket for the FS700 available now

Movcam makes a battery plate and a cable which will plug directly into the FS700 power port. I think others do as well, but I recall that one for sure. Wooden Camera may also have something.

Sorry, I was not clear - I was talking specifically about OQ7 brackets for using with C500. Right now I am thinking about a simple approach by mounting OQ7 onto rods of the shoulder rig with the final result that looks something like

basically using OQ7 instead of EVF. I found mounting gear to do that. But looking at what you've done for FS700 I thought you might have something special for C500.

The flat part that sits on top of the handle, uses 2 ¼"-20 thumb screws to fasten to the handle, and it slides back and forth or can be mounted with the rod in the back. The Odyssey can also be clamped on the right side. Here is a link to lots of photos of the kit:

I can't remember if the 500 has 2 threaded holes in the handle, if it does the EVF part (it is the same for the Odyssey rod) would fit fine. I have made cheese plates for various cams that do the same thing.

For customers that already have my EVF bracket I sell just the loger rod and part that clamps onto the Odyssey.

Hi Olof,

Battery Bracket looks great. 2 quick questions:

1) On the Battery Bracket page, it says the weight of the bracket is 1 lbs. Is that the shipping weight or the actual weight of the Bracket? If so, it would be almost the same weight as the 7Q and it's so much smaller. I'm just trying to keep things light as I'm running a steadycam regularly these days.

2) Will the Anodize version cost the same as the current versions?

Thanks,

Gene

Gene, that is the shipping weight, the actual weight is about 3 oz.

The anodized version is the same price we just offer the others for shooters in a rush.

Awesome Olof, I will probably be ordering on Friday. I have a busy day today. The solution looks great for people who like to work light like myself.

Thanks

Hi SergeSmAart,

I was wondering how you mounted the Sony hand grip on the Tilta rig. I have the same rig and I am trying to find a way to mount the hand-grip - you seemed to have solved that. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Actually this is a temporary solution .. I have two type of handles:

1.

TH-5R-15mm-Handle.jpg

2.

handle-1.jpg

so .. i just drill a hole and screw Sony hand-grip in it :2vrolijk_08:

But .. even I have my Shoulder RIG almost finished :

ShoulderRIG_01.jpg

..I still wait for a few items I ordered from E-bay ...
as you can see here - there is one D-tap cable connected to battery and to my EVF or On Camera light .. and very short and thin HDMI cable :2vrolijk_08:

ShoulderRIG_02.jpg

I don't really like any of this handles .. ..

ShoulderRIG_03.jpg

..and planing to get this Tilta Hand Grip !!! :

TiltaHandGrip.jpg

..and than I will find a way to mount Sony hand-grip in the RIGHT handle ... :2vrolijk_08:

I will place here detailed pictures when I have it.. don't worry ...

...but for now, if you interested, take a look to what I did so far:

For 4K RAW shooting I place Sony RAW SET to back side rods of Tilta RIG :

Oleh-Stuff-015.jpg

..but when I don't have an order to shoot in RAW, I need to have battery plate, battery and weight on the same place - to get the same level of balancing.. :)

...so this is it: I screw bracket for EVF on top of Sony handle.. and screw a small bracket for "On-Camera-LED-Light" in it...

ShoulderRIG_04.jpg

.. it's work fine and when I will get my "V-lock battery plate" ($93.60) and Sony Adapter ($11.60) ( to get a compatible cable for FS-700 ) I ordered from e-bay for $105 total !!!

I will get an option to connect to my V-lock battery my FS-700 camera ( 7.2 volts) , EVF viewfinder ( or on-camera 7" monitor - 12 Volts) , on camera Light.. ( 12 volts ) and something else for 5 volts output! :2vrolijk_08:

....don't you notice the difference between $280 and $105 ? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) .. I'm not so smart as SKYLIKE who says: "why cutting a cable from ac power adapter ... senseless posting! "

... I don't run to B&H to get a Movcam V-mount battery box for $455 :Drogar-Mad(DBG): ...and Movcam 4pin lemo cable for $210 .. :Drogar-Angry(DBG)::Drogar-Mad(DBG):

so... I prefer to be "senseless" for $105 :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

ShoulderRIG_08.jpg

later I will change this simple mat box to "swing-away" model ... and get better Follow-focus.. ( probably Tilta Follow Focus ...but I'd like to try it first.. :) )

ShoulderRIG_05.jpg

.. I found that for proper balancing even one average V-lock battery is still NOT enough to match weight of front part of my RIG even with 24-70 lens..

ShoulderRIG_06.jpg

.. so I make combination of this two pieces together..

ShoulderRIG_07.jpg

..of course there will be my New Battery plate, as soon as they ship it from E-China-Bay.. :cheesy:

It looks good! Do you sell to the EU as well?
Have you considered a possibility to mount that "rod" to something like this, in the threaded hole at the side?

Yes we ship all over the world. Hela världen. Vissa länder är lättare än andra.

Du kan beställa på vår WEBstor. Frakt räknas ut automatiskt. Eller du kan kontakta oss på Skype (westsideav) email först, eller PM här.

That Vocas clamp is pretty similar to what we do I would say. Ours is a bit longer and that makes it more adjustable with the long slot IMHO.

Hi Olof,

Another quick question. Does your bracket lock the battery in place? Is that what the large screw right above the top of the battery is for?

Thanks

Yes the battery is double locked in, the plate has a friction lock and small button, I added the "cam" to be extra secure, it is optional but a good idea if you use the O7Q upside down or if it takes a big bump. I have some new plates arriving in a few weeks that has a built in latch as well, that may eliminate the need for the "cam". I like things very rugged.

nice alternative (cheap) solution i just found :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaRmPLiKk98

two NPF batterie for 13-16V usage, much more power and running time for sure.
While this is a perfectly good product, it is unnecessary for use with the Odyssey7Q. The Odyssey accepts 6.5-34v power. A single NPF-970 is rated for 47w, while the Odyssey7Q only draws 8-15w (24w peak). So a single NPF-970 will last at least three hours.

Vad bra!

Hey Olof, When are the black anodized ones going to be ready?

Thanks

We have them in stock today. And we shipped the first batch today, we filled all current orders.

Now I am waiting for more Odyssey connectors, they should be here on Friday or Monday. We still have a bunch of the plates, I just need the connectors.

Awesome. I'll be ordering soon. So you automatically ship the anodized ones now right?
