Odyssey 7Q Firmware 2.11.110

That would be perfect for me, really.

Is 4K2HD 100fps in there as well? Was that a little extra bonus perhaps?

Not sure, was that on the table previously? I'd be happy with the 4k Prores, and i'm sure they'll be a bonus tucked in there...who knew we were getting 60p last time? I know there busting their asses to get this stuff done.

Not in the papers, no. It has been a topic here at these forums however, where Mitch has said something along the lines of "well, theres no limitation stopping us from doing it". I think it is because the camera is dumping its internal burst memory out as 30 or 60 fps and thus they already support the feed coming out of the camera. So maybe its just a matter of programming the O7Q to acknowledge and convert the feed that 100fps starts.

Not sure what the status on this is, or if it is even possible, though. I just remember that discussion and i know for a fact i would definetly LOVE 4K2HD quality slow motion from my camera! 240fps 2K has too much picture issues, so its only nice under certain conditions. 100fps raw and 240fps raw is too much to handle datawise too. Its ok for a shot or two, but not really an option in documentary work or nature photography where i have to travel far from any outlet or computer to dump the gigs on.

Hi Mitch,
do you think that in the future you'll be able to output prores 4444 or XQ? Or there is a limit for 422HQ?
Thank you!

Btw bandpro posted photos from the CD event, though not much is revealed there, just a basic list of what is in the new firmware.

It says the new firmware has "LUTs", but I wonder if that covers custom LUTs or just adds some new built in LUT options. I guess Mitch said 3D LUTs were future things so probably not custom?

High speed ProRes is theoretically possible, but we have to see just how fast we can actually go in practice. We can convert the RAW to video at high frame rates, but the issue is in encoding them into ProRes at such speeds. We want to make sure that the image looks good and does not suffer any artifacting from attempting to do it so quickly. Remember, we have to do it all in real time. We're fairly confident we can do it, it is just a question as to how fast with acceptable results.

4444 planned for the future. We are considering XQ, but honestly the advantages of it are limited to only certain kinds of work and it is an enormous data load. It's a possibility, but we will likely finish other codecs first, like some of the smaller ones for proxy and minimum broadcast deliverables.

Gentlemen, know how we have stated that we will only release firmware updates on a Monday or Tuesday so that our engineers will be available to clients for tech support for the rest of the week?

Well we may just push that timeline a little bit...

Looks like it means something good for this week !

Wow! Maybe Wed or Thurs? I'm thinking to come out and say this, the firmware must be final. Like done done, no chance of anything breaking with the final tweaks?

Ok! It'd be great to have at least prores 4444!
tnx

You know that feeling when your wife is naked on the bed, so you can see whats coming, but then its not coming and she goes to sleep instead?

This is how you are making me feel Mitch.

Shame on you.

Some bugs will be fixed, new ones will arise.
We should be glad to receive something. Hopefully ProRes 4K recording will be solid for 24/25/30 fps.

In this approaching hour of joy and happiness, we should still keep in mind, how many delays and hickups had been on the way. There will be more updates coming and the Firmware will get more and more mature. But do not expect, after this long time of waiting and delay, that items of the wish list like the 4444 flavor follow soon, very soon or imminent for all formats. It's still the same engineering team.

At least, CD changed their rule-of-thumb to be able to deliver the Release any working day, now. Roll out of the September Firmware update in early November sounds worse than hitting end of this month, being just one single month late. So my guess is Friday.

If I receive a 4K compressed recording mode, working well with all popular frame rates (very likely to need more patience for that) and easy support for LUTs, I will be satisfied and in peace.

second that. i really hope that the fw got more stable besides adding new features. really wondering what the bonus features will be.

Fairly noticeable/ heavy green tint on 7Q. I have it up alongside 7 TV Logic monitors in all sizes(5", 7", 17") and a Sony Monitor. Is a fix coming in the latest firmware? Since I am using it as director's monitor, I am getting a lot of heat from the DP concerning the tint. This is a 2xAlexa XT show and I am using it in multi stream mode.

Good to hear im not the only one!

Would love a color correcting feature inside the monitor itself. Colors are way off!
