Odyssey 7Q Firmware 2.11.110

What do you mean by HFR ProRes? 4K 60 ProRes? I guess I could somehow see how 4K 60 RAW being down-sampled to 1080p + compressed into ProRes would be relative to compressing straight to 4K. But then again I just point a camera at pretty things and don't make software for these fancy computer chips!
The question of HFR compressed video is if we can do something similar to the 4K2HD process but instead start with 2K. And then the question is how fast a frame rate can we get? We're pretty sure that we can get to 120p (see above post), but we don't want to promise anything at this point. And as stated many times previously, y'all know what our priority is before we make that one happen.

Issue: Just a heads up to fellow firmware updaters;

I updated my 7Q this afternoon, all went fine, and while setting up 4K2HD my power off button became unresponsive. I pulled the power plug and put it back in, now when it restarts the 7Q freezes on the Color bar screen, or if i have the FS700 connected to it; a static screen plays. Nothing remedies this issue, power via battery or plug, SSD or no SSD in the drive. Have emailed tech support.

Just wanted to give people a heads up/see if anyone had a similar problem.

Nope. Tried that already, the 7Q wont leave the color bar screen at all, and it wont recognize an SSD with or without a firmware update file onboard (current or old).

Wowzer. That would be amazing. This would be quite the powerhouse if you could capture HFR ProRes... I know right now I generally treat it as the "trade-off". I explain to clients that we can capture HFR, but at a hefty cost. It would also save me from jumping between FS700 RAW and 4K to HD mode on the Odyssey for those run-n-gun situations where I want to grab some HFR.

Please send me a PM with your contact info so that we can make sure to get you assistance ASAP.

hmmmm, on Thurs I start 4 days of shooting a short film....to upgrade or not?!
With the exception of this one report above, we have not seen any issues with this new firmware. Not minimizing Mondo34's issue, just stating that at the moment he is the only one out of 1000s of units in the field and many, many test bed units at the shop to exhibit this issue. We'll get to the bottom of it but in the meantime I don't want people to be afraid to load the new firmware. If you are in the middle of a shoot it is generally considered best to complete your project before updating (on any product). But otherwise we would like to see everyone move forward.

Please don't get too excited. We have a lot to do first before we get there. It's up there on the list, but not #1.

What he said. Exactly my situation too. Fingers crossed:)

Hi Mitch,

Is there any improvement in stability of playback of RAW 4K/2K HFR from the previous build? Can't see it mentioned in the release notes.
Thanks.

Just bought an Odyssey 7Q, Mitch. I was waiting for the 4k2HD 60p and it arrived. Looking forward to what's next... patiently!

i havent updated yet but I had a similar issue. The unit would not power on at all. I had to pull the plug and reinsert, then it turned on normally. This happened twice on yesterdays shoot. Also had some glitches on playback. Never had it happen before. Im on previous fw though as stated.

Interesting, mine is still refusing to work (freezes on the color bars).

It's pretty damn frustrating, but Mitch and the CD tech support team have been really helpful so far, and in constant email contact. So i'm hoping to get it resolved as quickly as possible, before i start missing out on paid jobs that is.

Excited to have 4K2HD in 60p. After the update I noticed really bad interlacing when just using the 7Q as a monitor on the FS700. Made it hard to get accurate focus. Didn't have this problem before the update.

There was something about a setting regarding aliasing if i remember correctly.

PSF or something?

I bet Mitch will come flying with the solution.
