Have a pair of O'connor aluminum legs with spreader for $200. If you are local and take them I will include a free O'connor model 50 head. I don't think there is anything radically wrong with the head, but as I do not know what I am doing and it seems a bit wonky (can't lock it down at 45 degrees, can't seem to loosen the pan speed, I don't feel right charging money for this. I paid $700 for it and am taking a bath, but serves me right.

The tripod feet seem to me a bit bent. I am a golfer and cant't stand looking down at a bent hosel. These not so much that they make the tripod legs unusable but they are sightly bent. I have shot all three so you can see what I mean. Other than that the tripod legs function well.

I also have a Manfrotto bowl adapter that will allow for a cheaper head to go on these legs. That is $40. If you really want to go hog wild I have a 503HDV Manfrotto head that I will sell for $75. I think it is a piece of crap, as it too doesn't lock down well or pan well IMHO. Still, it'll hod a camera so it has some value, I suppose.

I am in midtown (E. 58th) NYC for next five weeks. This is a local pick-up deal unless you want to send me a SASE box with packing mat'ls and waise my liability as I am really swamped and this is basically a giveaway.

I am certain a real cameraman will be able to get great shots out of that head. If panning were a priority for me, and I had help, I'd hold onto it. But space is a priority for me as I am moving out of my apt with my father's passing and must downsize now.

Cheers!

Update to this Oconnor 50 head I think is worth mentioning/posting: Today I had a guy in my house looking at this head. It is a wonky piece of gear. The 'lock' doesn't really lock well. It does pan and tilt and the movement is smooth but the adjustments are pretty much heavy/slow and slower. There is not a fast/smooth mode. It also won't really lock in the 45 degree or more tilt mode. We also noticed some missing screws in the housing. About five.

The screw that holds the handle in place is crap. Just some kind of threaded bolt with no butterfly or anything to grip and tighten with. You'd need pliers and really a new screw with some kind of tab to hand-tighten.

Still, given I am not shooting with a big camera I don't know the value of this thing even in this state. Maybe very little if anything, although I hate to just trash the thing. It does have some merit, although I think most might just go with something newer. Just an update for anyone reading.

Those feet should just unscrew, is it worth your fixing it and keeping it? No comments about the head, haven't used that model but it does seem like it needs repair. The value is that when it all works correctly, it is a sturdy support with nice smooth movements. I used a smaller system many years ago, and for some thing it was better than our Vinten gear. But I guess it comes down to how much you want to put back into it. Never been inside these O'Conner heads, so I don't know how easy it is to service them.

They probably do, and if these weren't like scissors and I wasn't such a klutz I might keep them, but they belong in a truck with a young crew not with me! I also think for any kind of serious work these big heads are probably a must, but not everyone needs this kind of kit...

Gentlemen.

Please take this type of communication to personal message or email, and not as part of the body of sales thread.

Thank you.

Sorry David. Hope the game is coming along well. I'm in NYC let me know if you are around and I will let you beat up on me ;-)
