I Just happened to walk in the middle of marathon run today in Manhattan. I took my DVX100a that I just got only 3 days ago out of my bag and started shooting some. Just wanted to share it with all of you.

I have a question guys. I shot this with detail level at -2 and I think it's kinda blurry. I mean I know it's SUPPOSED to be a little blurry but should I bring the detail level up to some positive numbers even thou everybody tells me detail level should be on negative in order to look like more film? Because most of the other people's clips I see on this forum looks crystal clear. What am I doing wrong?

I find I get an over all softness to my image as well. Esp. when shooting in the 24p mode.

I don't know if it's my bad shooting or just the camera.

But I tell ya, I'm not fond of the focus ring while shooting on the fly.

wow, 3 days and you have images like that? just like Adam said, that image definately rivals film. Maybe if the grab was a little larger we could see this blurriness you're talking about. but from here it looks good.

Thank you all for your kind words. The shot was taken in full frame at first and I put the 2.35:1 bar later and pull the image up so it can emphasize the guy in the middle instead of all the pretty buildings around as I originally intended.

The CC work I did was rather a simple one. I just applied the War Epic Theme from MB to it. I am sorta hardcore when it comes down to CC work. I tweak every single things just to see what it does but this time, I just let the default setting of the effect do its job. It turned out ok in that lighting. But... blurry... any comments on detail level?

I am writing this at my work right now. I'll post a bigger screen grab when I get home. Thanks again for all your kind words, guys.

you know thats something ive been wondering too. My Dvx looks a little softer than everyone elses. No matter where the Focus is. i will start a new thread and post a grab.

Hey guys.. I threw a little more CC on this.. I've never really done any CC work.. I'm pretty new to video stuff overall.. tell me what you guys think...

I think it's washed out a little too much. I used to like that sort of CC only about a year ago but not anymore. For a minute or two, it looks cool but I just can't stare at the screen for too long. Just my taste.
